PA amp from Ali...

Think I figured it out, seems like there might be some EQ functions that rely on FIR to work, this makes a lot of trouble if you set EQ for the woofers.
Blanking everything to default settings and using external EQ and filters seems to solve everything, lowering Master gain on the amplifier makes it useable for low volume listening.
It seems impossible to deactivate noise gate, minimum value is -100dB.

Not sure how much of the EQ settings through the interface is FIR and what is IIR, I was hoping it would be IIR, FIR is great for tops but useless for bass...

It is possible to enter custom FIR from external sources, 1024 taps per output at 96kHz.

Maybe it works half decent for lowpass, for highpass @20-50Hz forget it, completely useless.
You'll spend all the taps getting a half assed result, better to have phase issues using IIR instead, though you can smooth out most of those if you know your setup well enough.

I had to educate my teacher in this a couple of weeks ago actually, you spend 10x as many taps doing a filter at 100Hz vs the same filter at 1000Hz, high frequency stuff using FIR is awesome!

Edit:
Just tried it again, listening on low volume and using a 12dB Bessel @214Hz makes the woofers go "crunch, crunch, crunch" where it should be "kick, kick, kick", higher order filters are much worse.
Using IIR at my other XO sounds WAY nicer.
My opinion is that this is an FIR vs IIR thing, it does not really impact my opinion of this amplifier.

The integrated DSP of the amplifier works perfectly fine as long as you keep it to concert levels, which is the intended use. It is not made for "low volume" livingroom levels, but the amp is dead quiet and works really well with a few adaptions.
Using FIR for the tops only is not a problem for me.

I do not like the DBX stuff, currently using the dB-Mark HDX28.

Long story short:
At any rate, super happy with the PFA10K, it is awesome value for money as long as you want concert level.
If you want everything that this thing can deliver you NEED a 16A 230V breaker for it, but for "medium" (still insane overkill) levels the power draw is very low.

The integrated protection systems and the DSP is excellent, setup can initially be a bit fiddly to understand but it really is quite easy.
Sound quality is EXCELLENT! (on medium to clinically insane levels)

The manufacturer reached out to me personally and helped me out with my concerns, customer service has been excellent, there is a slight language barrier and there is the timezone thing to keep in mind but I have NO reservations about the product and the service, very happy.

After some communication I ended up purchasing another two amplifiers that are completely new off the press, received my two brand new PFA6K4 a few days ago, these are some smaller amplifiers without any DSP that suit my particular use-case better.

Will start another thread about my progress with "the rack" and what's in it.

It was a pure 14700hz tone on one channel. I am not certain what caused it, made some measurements and sent them to OMB after they reached out. They had a suspicion that it could be related to the DSP somehow, the noise is not really that loud, but it sticks out in measurements.
If I used that one channel for subs it would be impossible to detect.

Transition to PFA6K4pro:
I wanted an amplifier that was useable in both my den and outside the house, and integrated DSP was not really important to me because I have the HDX28.
The PFA6K4pro sounds really good though the noise levels are not quite as good as a good TPA3255 design at lower levels, but at higher volume levels it is vastly better.
One nice feature is the display that tells the output voltage and power as well as the measured load impedance, or you can switch it to input levels.
I am also a fan of physical adjustable volume knobs, and the power switch is also on the front.
Protection features are very good, at overload the channels are cut and come back on after a few seconds, the other channels work 100% fine during this time.

@KaffiMann, any updates on your experience with the PFA6K4pro? How is the fan noise for living room use? Have you measured idle power draw?

I’m looking for a good value, quiet and reliable 4x300-500w@4ohms amp for a home multi-sub system. Most of the Aliexpress amps seem geared for >1kw/channel use, whereas this is in a more reasonable range for my needs.

Thanks

I am really happy with them, the fans do spin up if you use a bit of power but my sound system easily drowns out the noise.
Sometimes the fans spin up very briefly if the threshold temp is reached, other than that they are dead quiet.

I would suggest putting them in a cabinet with air in/out if you want to make absolutely sure not to be disturbed.
My Norwegian basement is probably colder than your Oz accomodation, so the fans might be less of an issue at my place.

The PFA6K4pro are excellent!
Not a competitor for the über elite stereo amps, but I got 8 channels worth of more power, for much less than what it costs for 2 channels worth of Purifi or the NCx500.
Very happy, not "ultimate end-all performance" but still very good, and especially for the money.

Hey, what about the tariffs now, i raised my piggy bank to get some more Shenzen amps....... BUT !! now the savings are evaporated with the tariffs, so i guess i will need to wait till the smoke clears, if any.... hope is not another 2020 pandemic "inflation"
all gone double or more... Mmmmmmm.....

I am a bit hesitant to enter a discussion about tariffs, as you know those things are governed by matters not allowed to discuss here on diyaudio.

To keep things to thread topic I have a bit of info that I wrote to a fellow member that had a few questions about the PFA6K4 Pro amps:

Seems like there is some level of intelligence involved.
On the back it says max power out divided between all channels is 1600W, I have each amp power subs and tops and this seems like a decently balanced load.
Pushed around 600-700W/ch to subs and then the automatic protection kicked in, which is about right since the tops have a much lower power draw so probably under 2kW draw from the wall.
1600W total is very realistic.
The protection features are very good, takes a few seconds timeout and then it starts right up again.

So max power draw is between 1800-1900W or so, and max power out between all channels is around 1600W.
Personally I think this is a very good feature to have, so it is easier to distribute the load across a few circuit breakers for small compact PA setups.
