I am working on an Orion xtr5004 and I have run into a wall and need a little help. I have rebuilt the power supply and with the rectifiers out it powered up just fine. I have removed all the output fets which are irl540n's. When I put rectifiers in the amp cycles in and out of protection. If I remove the voltage regulator ics it powers up and works great, Even with the rectifiers in. I replaced the lm337 and the lm317 but with them in the amp goes into protection. I replaced both 100ohm resistors that feed the v regs as well. Does anyone have any thoughts about what could be my problem?
Just replaced it and the amp is still going into protection, it's like the amp tries to rebuild a square wave and goes back into protection. But like I said if I pull out the lm317 and 337, the amp builds a perfect square wave.
Are you sure that there are no defective output transistors in the other channel?
Is there a pulse of DC on either channel as you try to power up?

I replaced all 16 irl549ns with brand new ones from mouser. The amp only goes into protection when I put the lm317 in the amp does not go into protection with the lm337 in . I have replaced both the 317 and 337.
I replaced r560 r561 c547 c552 r562 r563 and now the amp powers up and stays out if protection, it's idles at 1.1A @12V, But the sound is very distorted.
Do you have positive and negative rail voltage?
Do you have positive and negative regulated voltage on the power supply pins of the op-amps?
Is the signal coming out of the preamp section clean?
