If you're going to do this type of work, you need a scope but I don't want you to buy a piece of junk.
I am sure I would make good use of a scope. I do know how to use them. I will follow your recommendation on bcae and look for a tek.
Do both channels produce clean audio other than the noise?
They do. Loud, strong, normal, etc. Amp doesn't get hot, etc etc. If I adjust the gain way up it is almost not noticeable. It sounds like the tone medical equipment makes sometimes. Very annoying and not right. I am sure it is the amp and not my setup.
I understand this is the type of repair that may simply require more equipment. Can't just start swapping things out.
Hitachi, kenwood, BK precision make decent scopes. You want one that has at least one locked waveform displayed or a guarantee that it works properly. If you're going to buy on ebay, email me the auction numbers.
