Hi Wushuliu
What model number fox Xpresso did you use?
Thanks for any help
John
When Coris would send me back new LPM & MB, i would have a look at hdmi2 output comparing to hdmi1.
As i remember, in earlier tweakings (using oppomod lpm & my sellarz's clocks), hdmi1 sound output was a little bit better but picture was better on hdmi2.
People should try hdmi2 output if they do not use qdeo settings (sharpness...).
Why not use hdmi1 for sound & hdmi2 for picture. It's worth trying 🙂

Early in this thread Ric Schultz recommended removing the optical connector. Has anyone else done this?

Yes, I got the idea from him. It makes a subtle lift in transparency. Worth doing if you have the board out, as its only a few solder points.
My final clocking approach for 105D model: One master oscillator 108Mhz, which it directly clock the DAC, then the further divided frequencies to 54Mhz and 27Mhz for the rest of the chips...
The divider is mounted here on the down side of the clock board, for fine adjustments reasons in this case.
Nicely working...

Looks great! Kind of wish I got a 105 instead, but with the new Oppo coming soon and their DAC, the 103 seemed the safer investment.
There are no 27 or 54mhz SAWs available commercially, right? They have to be special ordered?
I'm also thinking of swapping the TPS7A4700 supplies for a ADM7151 from diyinhk (they're inexpensive and I need more power supplies for another project). Any potential benefit there?

SAW type oscillator it can not be produced under 50Mhz. My 54Mhz one it is a customised produced oscillator, not available commercial...
However, my approach is not using independent oscillators for each chip, but one master clock, and then obtain the necessary frequencies by dividing it accordingly. Fortunately this concept it fit well for 105D model, but not for 105 which it need a 20Mhz oscillator for HDMI chip...

My SAWs are Epson... I`m not sure they commercialise as usually this value of frequency, but they can produce any frequency on order (minimum order 50 pcs). In that time I ordered it to them, it was not possible to find elsewhere this frequency for a SAW oscillator... This frequency it is not a production standard, or so it was for few years ago...

Hi,
Can this be done in the BDP-103? I think the HDMI 2 is the only one that can output 'audio only' in split a/v mode, or else have dual display.. But maybe you are talking about the 105 (which I don't have) that may have this feature to switch audio only outputs between HDMI 1 and 2?
FWIW, I have the older Coris LPM version and comparing the two HDMI outputs it seems that HDMI 2 looks more natural.. Another thing is the USB input on the front panel is clearly inferior (more noise and artifacts) compared the the USB inputs at the back panel (inputs mounted directly at the board). I think that even with a stock unit it will be obvious to see the better PQ with the back panel USB inputs.
Final 105 mod before next 205
- Coris LPM last release
- improved motherboard filtering

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Wow. Nice! Coris really does great work.
I added a lifepo4 battery to my TPS 3.3v supply for the manin 27hz, nice improvement all around including image quality. I'm sure Coris' mod is much much better.

Here is the last version of the clock board...
Some improvements, as UFL connectors instead of MMCX, shielded oscillator/divider on both sides, as the internal routing (4 layers) design.
Here is pictured the 105D version (2x 27Mhz, 1x54Mhz, 1x108Mhz). Epson SAW 108Mhz is the main and only oscillator for the whole device...
The UFL connectors are very small and maybe not so easy to handle with, but there is a much better and safe contact, However, there is not recommended to many connect/disconnect cycles for these UFL.

Coris, just an FYI I've been chatting up your mods over at Audiocircle, inc ase you want to pop in and say hello.

Yes, I`ve seen it. I have been there and replayed to a (sceptical) post. It seems that I am not welcome there... My replay doesn`t appeared at all... Well, well...
Ah, too bad.
Btw, the spdif signal is based on the main processor clock, not the hdmi clock in any way, right?
