I use my BosoZ preamp to drive the amp. The gain setting is fine.
Yes, the toroid is very close, and this could be the reason for the hum. I will try and move it outside the chassis if this is persisting.
Have a look at the chassis from the top. Fairly packed😉

Nice symmetry, but that toroid concerns me. Might be the one who's humming through your speakers.
Me too. I saw a lot of chipamps on this forum with the trafo very close to the amp boards though. I hoped to get away with this setup. I like the small chassis🙂 Moving the trafo away from the chassis, will tell if that is the problem. It is only a slight hum, but annoying anyway.that toroid concerns me.

Sorry 'bout the late reply;
The preamp's supply is up to +/-18V.
Nisbeth said:18V is absolute max. for the OPA627. 15V is probably safer in the long run 🙂
/U.
Yep, I said "up to 18V"
Mine is running on a regulated supply at +/-17.6V
Just finished the supply boards for the OPA627/BUF634 preamp.
I used Nuuk's schematic here: http://www.decdun.fsnet.co.uk/gainclonepre.html#gcprepsu1 . Well, more or less at least🙂 There is two times +16,5/-16,5v, so each channel is to be fed from its own supply. I must confess that it was a bit time consuming, P2P wiring this supply
Have a look at the boards.

That looks really good, Alcaid. I was considering a discrete regulator too, but decided on Nuuk's reg supply in the end.
Have you seen this page on voltage regulators: http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/solidstate.html .
Lots of good info.

Yep, read all info there. Lots of good information about PSUs!

And the amplifiers use this voltage?
No problem friend...
Tnks for your reply
I guess you mean me, Soundnerd? The heatsinks are from busted welding gear from my work. The heatsinks are bigger when I get them, so they are cut to size. I get a few of those now and then🙂 I bought the case in Taiwan, you can do it too, if you dare to send your Visacard number out therehey where did you get that case and those heatsinks?

Yep😉You're working like mad I see!
Nope😀 😀 I am a lucky guy😎Doesn't your misses complain about you DIY'ing all the time?
As for working like mad, did you see the chassis for Aleph-X monoblocks I am making? These chipamps are quick stuff in comparison.http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42585&perpage=10&highlight=&pagenumber=6
