How much are we talking about? I have got an offer for a digital volume control as well as input board (180 euros). I would prefer to go for a simple attenuator and selector switch. Can you give me an rough estimate, the different alternatives? And do what about the capasitors? Is 50v enough (for the BG parts)?
Tnx! 😀
Tnx! 😀
Yeah, I payed around 1200 Dkr for a balanced Elma attenuator.
Thats including 4 SMD decks, so basically you get a complete balanced volume control for that! Dont shoot me if its a bit more though 😉 I didnt buy it yesterday🙂 The input selector with 4 decks is around 400 Dkr. For the "Twisted" approach take a look here:http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/
I have no interest in the website, but those guys rocks🙂 I am definately going the Twisted way, especially with the display controller comming up later😉

i read somewhere that you could use a non-balanced attenuator and wire it in some way to compensate. Anyone who knows what I'm getting at?
Rather late -
Hello Veteran,
Can you please let me know if you have two sets of P1.7 and PSU available please? Ideally gold finish although I will be happy with tin.
Thank you

Yes, your package number is: PR21908.
PCB Sizes
Hi,
Can anyone tell me the sizes of the PCBs?
Also does anyone have a part list ideally with the component pitches (sizes) identified?
Thanks!

Accurate dimensions: 81.788mm x 116.332mm for AP and 47.752mm 116.332mm for PS 😉
No problem audiotux. Now I'm waiting for first pictures of folded Alpehs 😎

Is it possible to use a 100k attenuator for this clone? Do I have to do any alterations or is this no problem? I can get hold of a very good one for a very good price. Thanks for all the answers!

You can use it. Will this attenuator have constant impedance seen form AP output? If so, you can use lower capacitors values on output.
If somebody will be interested - ZenV9 amplifier boards are now available 😉

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
With the PCBs and the other parts more or less sorted I have shifted my focus towards the volume controll and the input selector. After roaming the internet, I have not become any wiser. There are three (and probably many more) alternatives: potentiometer, attenuator or a digital solution. From what I have read the first one is a no go. However, the last two both have followers.
The question is: Which principle sounds the "best" and is at the same time easy to implement? I sort of like the analog approach (the KISS way - keep it simple stupid)
Furthermore: Has anyone experience with the DACT attenuators (danish) CT1 and CT2? How are they compared to elna?
Hope all my "newbee" questions aren't too much of a pain in the a**
Thanks for all the help!
