How much are we talking about? I have got an offer for a digital volume control as well as input board (180 euros). I would prefer to go for a simple attenuator and selector switch. Can you give me an rough estimate, the different alternatives? And do what about the capasitors? Is 50v enough (for the BG parts)?

Tnx! 😀

Yeah, I payed around 1200 Dkr for a balanced Elma attenuator.
Thats including 4 SMD decks, so basically you get a complete balanced volume control for that! Dont shoot me if its a bit more though 😉 I didnt buy it yesterday🙂 The input selector with 4 decks is around 400 Dkr. For the "Twisted" approach take a look here:http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/
I have no interest in the website, but those guys rocks🙂 I am definately going the Twisted way, especially with the display controller comming up later😉

With the PCBs and the other parts more or less sorted I have shifted my focus towards the volume controll and the input selector. After roaming the internet, I have not become any wiser. There are three (and probably many more) alternatives: potentiometer, attenuator or a digital solution. From what I have read the first one is a no go. However, the last two both have followers.

The question is: Which principle sounds the "best" and is at the same time easy to implement? I sort of like the analog approach (the KISS way - keep it simple stupid)

Furthermore: Has anyone experience with the DACT attenuators (danish) CT1 and CT2? How are they compared to elna?

Hope all my "newbee" questions aren't too much of a pain in the a**

Thanks for all the help!
