I think omni speakers are a good idea, if you have the space to make them work. I'm a teenager in a bedroom, so there's no space to try them... 🙁
Cool eyecandy though.

The Visaton Fontana:
And don't forget to look for the Fontanella Sats too.

Thanks for the reference -- those were mine. I wanted to point out that the graph is of the vertical response variations. Horizontally there is virtually no response variation due to geometry.
Also, shouldn't leave out the most famous of the omnis:

Omnis can sound very good, but there is a problem if you want a wide sweet spot -- you can't toe them in! So, for front channels, at least, I've moved to Controlled Directivity designs.
pluto and T amp?
have considered using the pluto layout and drivers with each column driven by an argen TAmp, any thoughts

Celtic Obelisk
Obelisk - Celtic Audio Ltd.
A smooth acoustic response from 28Hz to over 20KHz brings an uncanny degree of realism to the sound, be it music or voice. Careful attention to phase and timing accuracy only made possible by our active processing coupled with the omni-directional radiation of higher frequencies brings the performers into your room and allows you the freedom to hear the same clear reproduction wherever you choose to sit (or stand!)

Beolab subwoofer
Most if not all subwoofers are omni directional anyway (except that they fire halfspace). But this is neat !
Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 11 - HiTech Review
Due to the omni-directional properties of the bass, the performance is not dependent upon orientation; therefore the unit can be ‘rotated’ as desired when positioned on the floor.

Altec Lansing
Altec-Lansing | iTech News Net - Gadget News and Reviews
The bias for aesthetics are clearly evident like placing the loudspeakers that close to the wall.
