Hi, what value did you use for Ri/v for the Lampizator board? Thanks.
I used the 200 ohms that Andrea/Quanghao recommend. I kept them on the DAC board and eliminated the pull downs on the Lampizator. Hope that helps.
Quanghao,
Can you post the size of the new dac board, I understand that now dac and ps are on the same board.
Thanks,
D.

PCB updat for DAC-end2
DAC board :After success with the PCB for placement DAC-end2, Tl431 used to separate the sources, and used for the inputs Salas low shunt. I removed all replaced with Tl 431 by shunt Salas.
I/V stage: I use Salas hight shunt for IV, and I use tube 9 pin: 6h30 or 6h6 or 6dj8…

there is no point, each dac will sound slightly different depending on
operating point of IV
tubes
singal caps
LEd mod or not
cathode bypass cap type + size
CCS or not
filterectomy or not
so many variations and each will sound slightly different.
Warm and syrupy (what many would call 'tubey or valve sound' )? Then use the stock BOM with the filter, use bypass caps in the cathodes. Loose warm bass but lovely mids and liquid highs.
Slightly warm but clearer? use the LED cathode mod (getting rid of the cathode resistors and bypass caps) and ditch the filter. Bass tighter and better defined, mids still great (but not quite as euphonic) and the highs a little clearer (but still warm).
Accurate with even tighter bass? Then drop the B+, use a CCS as the anode load, use a the LED mod, ditch the filter.
All subjective, but thats how i heard things.
I prefer it to the cambridge audio dac magic, its more natural to my ears, but then the parts alone cost as much as the complete dacmagic, so one would expect it to perform to a similar standard.
What I think.. Undoubtely I trust the creator of DE2 and all of you.. But...
I guess this Dac looks like a provocation.. Very simple digital part... I don't tell that it's not good. But I see many modern schematics.. All of creators try to reduce jitter, to resample the data, ASRC, and so on. In fact yesterday I listened to one of this DAC. The sound was very and very fabulous. But assembling of this DAC is very expensive and hard. PCB has 4 layers. Very small SMD. I think it's very difficult to assemble it at home.
What was tested:
Transport TEAC, further I2S connection to DAC, than one of very expensive Plinius amp and than Elac FS247. At the moment this is the best sound I've ever heard.
When I read this thread I try to understand. Why many people try to create very difficult and multi-component DACs with many mathematic calculations concerning the digital data if there is a simple way - to assemble DAC END 2.
I'd like to understand. If you can help me, I'll be so happy.
And very important question. The components of this DAC are not cheap. If you didn't listen to it why did you make a decision to assemble?
Undoubtly I'm interested in assembling. But I'm not sure of sound. I cannot make my final decision. Help me. What is the magic of DE2?

Am I right to say that I can use this I/V stage play TDA1541A by subsituting R15/16 with a suitable I/V resistor, say 50 ohm?

Hi belkoff!
This DAC is easy to make, and no spend many many money of you. But the sound is very very exelent.
Some my friend say:** the sound of Dac-End 2 is better then CDP TEAC 50 **

Hi Quanghao, I have amended my details as I'll be building my own output stage, so just need 1x DAC PCB (the new version with integrated power supply).
