Old Realistic 5" drivers worth messing around with?

I found these. Are the worth building them into something simple to use while working on the laptop? Any simple box designs?

Regards, Vinay

I wish I'd known about the Cornu back when I had a pair! Wait... that didn't sound quite right...

Seriously, they're worth fooling with. Those were my first real audio purchase; I recall riding my bike home from Radio Shaft with a pair of these swinging from the handlebars (😬) after finding them on closeout for ten bucks. If I'd had the guidance from a forum like this I might have treated them a bit better. I should have anyway, 'cause I cut a lot of grass for that money.

Enjoy! 🙂

By someone who tested out this driver for its T/S Parameters...0.63 cubic feet worth of internal volume...fb , or the tuned box frequency, a port-tube with a two-inch inside diameter, 1.875 inches long. I have had good luck with another five-inch RS unit, the 40-1284E, they suck up power & a big amp can cook them if driven too hard.

Maybe a 0.53x mini Karlsonator would work well. I use Dayton PA130-8 on this scale of Karlsonator and they sound wonderful.

Same box works well for dual 3FE25-16 or single PA130-8. I suspect the RS 5in full range would work swell.

Perfect in foam core or wood. Foam core can be built in an evening on a kitchen table.
