Erik Satie - Gnossiennes 1-6 - YouTube

Quote from comments by Graham:

"I'm not sure if anyone will understand what I'm trying to say, but I find Gnossiennes absolutely exhausting to listen to. Within the space of just a few notes, Erik Satie takes me on a rollercoaster ride of constantly changing emotions - happy to sad, hopeful to hopeless, and even beautiful to ugly. I think maybe his music is a window into his troubled mind. A troubled genius."

Despite of my troubled english (and mind) I completely agree with him.
Perhaps I would rather use word thrillful, than exhausting.
But yes, as it is thrillful, it is exhausting at the same time.

I love listening to Satie: Gymnopedies, Gnossiennes, Sarabandes, etc. However, I don't hear a troubled mind - just a playful yet serious composer bucking the rigid system that was then in place.

My oh my, but am I the only one for whom the White Bird and In A Gadda-da-vida invokes flashbacks to a couple of “wasted” summers?

Pretty sure you're not alone Chris.;)

Slightly OT, but a bit of a surprise in today’s newspaper:
Save On Foods Memorial Arena, Victoria BC, April 22, 2022;
ZZ Top with special guest Cheap Trick.

Yes, one of many concerts coming in the spring. James Taylor & Jackson Brown are apparently coming as well. It would be fun to go just to see Leland Sklar on bass, but no idea if he's touring with them.
