Did some home work and made a few calls this afternoon,The Antek trannies AN0506 are out until October, the AS0506 are the 17.00 per will work.
The only difference between the 2 are, the AS0506 has a foil shield purple wire that can left un used...and the 5.00 increase....

Shaun is good to go but that's great news for anyone else needing trannies. $17 still beats any price out there and we know they sound fantastic.
I am not so sure about the shielded version!
The shielding may increase (maybe even double) the transformers parasitic capacitance.
This is something that needs to be tested before it is recommended as the added capacitance will lower its resonate frequency in to the audio band.
jer 🙂

I agree it would be best to first test, Is this foil shield present on the AN0506 just not wired?
I don't think it exists on the AN version.
Even if it is not connected it will still increase the surface area of the coupled capacitance just as the core itself does.

Doy you think there could be a possible option available from Antek's catalog, short of winding a home brew?
Yes a higher power version such as the 100 watt transformer should work as long as the transformation ratio is the same.
jer 🙂
jer 🙂
There was one that I had suggested a while back that as 4 equal voltage HV windings on it and you could add your own primary like I have down with mine.
I will find the model number for you.

That would be great however, as we discussed I would not mind looking into having a single torroidal custom made to handle each channel. Having the capabilities of handling a 150 watts full range, and one for a hybrid build as I believe you suggested?

Some of these as an example will get you the needed higher transformation ratio using just one core.
They may be good candidates providing their capacitance is not to high.

I think that they have an Isolation transformer with just 4 identical windings on it and if it is a 240v it would be great.

I still think that would be a cheaper way to go.
And still have better performance.
But there are several good candidates from antek that might work and still have a 1:100 transformation ratio, But they are in the $40 to $80 range.
I just compiled a list 3 times and my mouse is acting up and lost it 3 times. 🙁
This one for $50 would give you 1:75 or a 1:150 ratio with the 1:75 configuration having a lower frequency capability of at least 240hz and 48v peak input for a 150watt ampilfier range and 480hz at 48v peak for the 1:150 ratio,

P.S. Oh there is my list we are on a new page now !!! :/

I just found a thread that was performed on the Antek and another recomendation was the AN1206. I will review you just posted
Thanks,

Included, for the examle above.
As long as the resonate frequency of the transformer with the panel connected is above 20Khz or higher this would work good!!

what do you think of this tranny for a single tranny application

Here is another example for $50 that has an even higher ratio at 1:100 and 1:200 at the same voltages as described in post #52
http://www.antekinc.com/pdf/AN-4T550.pdf
I believe that this is something that needs to be investigated !!!

You would have to use twice as many to get the same transformation ratio as the 6v ones.
jer 🙂
Yep, I would like to explore the possibility of a custom wound torroidal which would require only needing to use one per channel. oh, and under $50.00 wouldn't be a bad price either.
