NONOS for my NAD-502 (I2S from MN6474)

Hello, i'v got one NAD 502 CD PLayer and im finding the way to obtain I2S data format to input in a NONOS DAC TDA1543.
The datasheet of MN6474 (DA converter on the 502) got at pins:
33 LRPOL LRCLK polarity selection pin.
"H" level; selects the left channel
"L" level; the right channel.
34 LRCLK pin. When the LRPOL pin is at "H" level, "H" level in this pin indicates left channel data input; "L" level indicates right channel data input. When the LRPOL pin is at "L" level, "L" level in this pin indicates left channel data input; "H" level input
indicates right channel data input.
35 BCLK Serial input bit clock
36 SRDATA Serial input data (digital) input pin.
41 MDATA Microcomputer command data input pin.

Some body can tell me how connect this to TDA1543, I thik that
PIN 35 to BCK (PIN 1 bit clock input on TDA1543)
PIN 36 to DATA (PIN 3 data input on TDA1543)

And who to WS (PIN2 word select input on TDA1543)

Thanks, and best regards...

Hi ,if i am right , word select of 1543 is LR clock(LRCK) , i;e 44.1 khz signal . IF you are not sure , put a scope on the pin . Anyway , i dont know if the 1543 can handle the two's complement , the 1543A yes , there is no talk about this on the datasheet

Hi pmonti,

I've done it, but didn't try it yet. I have shematic for 5425 (same as 502). Find 3 150R resistors on board between CXD1167 and MN6471...

R208 LRCLK
R210 BCK
R209 DATA

And connect it with TDA1543A.

If it works with TDA1543A, you have EIAJ output from decoder/filter. But if it works with TDA1543, then you have I2S output.

I know that, so I mention TDA1543A, not TDA1543. I did it in other CD-Rom/CD Players, direct connection is better and cheaper then SPDIF. Didn't try it yet because of rebuilding TDA1543A DAC.

Hi,

I'm planning to do a rebuild of an old NAD5425. It's nice to know that you have found the I2S signals in there. But do you know anything about the MCLK aswell? Do you know if it is 256x? What I would like to do is generate the MCLK on my own board and supply it to the player. The 5425 seems to have a 33.868MHz crystal which is 768x 44.1kHz.

Do you think you could provide me with a copy of the 5425 shematics?

Regards,
Børge
