Hi guys,
I am already at the second collaboration with Monolith Magnetics and I will continue with its! I think I made a good choice, they are great transformers! I highly recommend them! And not be neglected and that their client is Tentlabs!
First time I used these transformers to make a clone to my AN Interstage Monoblock Parallel 300B and second I replaced the output transformer to AN DAC kit 4.1 SE.
Major differences in sound were in both cases!!! Very very good improvement!!!
The guys Yves/Ward are true professionals, they know how to make transformers to my specifications even in some cases their advice was welcome and helpful! I think I was among the first customers who have requested double C-core amorphous transformers and they have complied with my demands!
Sorry for my english.
All the best!

Hi everyone,
Since M. Bartolucci never sended my transformers ordered 15 months ago, I ask for the refund. Then, I've just ordered 2 days ago a pair of Monolith Magnetics Summit S-19 output transformers. Since the beginning, I have an excellent service and great communication with Yves Pexsters from Monolith.
Those OPT will be for a personal PSE 300B mono-blocs project. I'll report later about my experience with them.
Have a good day,
Sébastien

SebastienL - did you get back your money?
By the way, do you have any measurement data using Monolith's transformers? I'd be very interested to take a look. Thanks!

Hi Ihgin,
No, I never have my money back from Bartolucci... Don't know if I will some day.
Regarding Monolith Magnetics, I finally send the output transformers I bought from them to a friend in Europe because two days after I ordered them, I received a quote from Pieter at Tribute which sounds more interesting to me than the Monolith.
Tribute's output where cheaper in price and use a better core material. This said, my friend in Europe already used some Monolith in its project and like them very much. After, it's a personnal choice and mine were Tribute.

Regarding core material, Tribute uses 30zh105* and later on the 23PH085* HiB c-cores and also the amorphous amcc c- cores. The HiB c cores are a little bit better the Monolith Magnetic cores i guess but the amorphous cores are different, not specially better.
Amorphous amcc cores have lower eddy currents but it saturates much easier and the permeabilty is lower (dc- 5000Hz).
* I adviced him to buy this materials and he did.

Do we have any updates on Monolith output transformers? The Etude 1 is interesting for SE 300b users.

It would be good to have some idea of sound quality and how this compares to e.g. quality Japanese transformers like Hashimoto and Tamura.

Hi Andyjevans,
My friend in Europe received last week Monolith's pair of S-19 for a PSE 300B project that he will soon start. This friend already have experience with Monolith OPT. He was always please by them. I remember very good comments on the S-9 one for 300B. I know that he also worked with many other OPT such as toroidal one from Menno van der Veen and I consider him to have interesting and founded opinions on OPT.

Just to add my experiences to this thread...
I purchased a pair of the S-833 output transformers, and a pair of 35H chokes for the choke input power supply from Monolith Magnetics, to build my Midlife Crisis monoblock amps (see pictures). Picture 1 is the right channel as first fired up on my bench, picture 2 is of the OPT core before potting (with an ECC83 for reference), picture 3 is of the amps in action in my listening room, picture 4 is a 2kHz square wave through the amp.
These OPTs take a little time to get from Monolith and are not cheap in any sense of the word, but they truly sound spectacular! I'm amazed at how the treble is so clean and clear and the bass is so powerful yet also detailed - one of the knocks on the 833 tube is its high plate resistance when using it at very high voltages, so most folks use it in lower Vp, higher Ip types of amps. The use of a huge amorphous double-C core, special winding techniques and teflon dielectric has produced an 833 OPT that can handle both ends of the audio spectrum with great ability, at 2300VDC plate voltage and 160mA Ip.
As far as the chokes go, they effectively filter the 2300VDC choke input power supply without buzzing or burning up, which is what you're looking for from the first choke in a choke input supply.
I highly recommend these transformers for those who want very high quality OPTs for their tube amps. I repeat that they are expensive, but in my mind worth the money.

Tribute-Audio OPT
Hi, Folks!
I will wondering if someone knows how contact with Pieter Treurniet (Tribute-Audio).
I have send a request for OPT's pair via email, but got no answer from him (5 days ago). The latest news at your site are from year 2007. Is it still in this business?
Will be thankful for any information.

Me, too. I sent him several emails some years ago. Never got an answer, so I placed my business elsewhere.

Hi levelfive,
Yes, Pieter is still in the business and very buzy at some time of the year. I received 3 months ago a pair of OPT from him for my PSE 300B mono-blocks. Also, a friend of mine in France received its order from him few weeks ago.
Like bequerel, the first time I contacted Pieter, two years ago, I never received any answer... Then, Bartolucci never send my pair of OPT, so I contact him again last December. He answered quickly. Plus, I know that he often read the forum.
I have is personnal email and I can ask him if I can give it to you. I'll let you know.
Have a good day,
Sébastien

Hi, Sebastien!
Pieter just answered to me. Thank you very much for the detailed information!
Have a nice day too!
Konstantin.

Sad news from Pieter (Tribute Audio).
Taking my age into account I did not want this situation to continue; I am 64 years now and when I slow down over the years to come I prefer to do it in a more relaxed way. Therefore I dediced to stop DIY custom winding within a couple of months; this means that I will serve my existing DIY customers as much as possible, but new customers have to look elsewhere.
This is actually the Monolith Magnetics thread, but I heard early last year that Tribute is no longer accepting orders from new customers and will focus on existing customer base...
Monolith has made transformers for a number of people here, myself included. You might want to check them out.

Anyone have issues with response from Monolith? My first request by email took about 5-6 days for a response. My next request for pricing is going on 6 days. Copied both Ward and sales.
No issues as far as I'm concerned. Monolith delivered custom transformers for a shunt regulated tube psu With lc infront of the shuntreg. ( a few years ago) These Irons are dead quiet and really nice performers.
I also received a choke input choke for my 13e1se amplifier. These choke are not mounted yet, as it is necessary to do some chassis work first. Together With the chokes I also received a pair of opts for the 13e1se. I have tried Lundahl irons and sowter custom opt's. The Monoliths sounds better, for what it is Worth. Highly recommended. Please excuse me for the mediocre Picture quality
