Did you removed the anti glare coating?
Hi badepapa,
How is your projector going? Had you removed the antiglare coating from the LCD panel? If yes, how is the improvement in image sharpness, brighness and contrast?
If you had already removed ag, then what method you followed to remove? Please mention for me.
Wishes for good projector soon.

Reflector Assembly
Hi Dr. Vikram,
Yes, I am using a reflector assembly. I had bought a ready made reflector for MH Lamps. The one that comes for the 150 W lamp was a bit big. So I got a smaller one made holes on its side so that the holder can fit in and it works good for me. I am attaching the pic again.

can anybody suggest reflecotrs for CFL lamps?
can silver paint withstand high temperature?
planning to buy reflectors for tablelamps and use them.

reflector
could not find suitable readymade reflector. finally got some aluminium foil and used the protective casing of the CFL lamps itself to design the reflectors. works well.
started building the box for my second attempt, with mixed light source (LEDs + CFLs). how are you guys doing? no post for many days from anyone.🙂

Frustration
got my assembly right. got better brightness
but.... my LCD is now malfunctioning. the picture is not steady. it kind of flows into one direction, then slows down, stops and the frames start flowing in other direction. tried all sorts of things. went through the manual but could not rectify the problem
may be i have damaged the ffc cable. there are some kinks in it. and one of the tiny metal strips has come out partially. this is where things are out of my hands. will have to wait for the TV repairing guy to change the cable for me.
i hate this situation where i know that there is some problem but don't know what exactly it is. in medical language, it is idiopathic.

USE UV filter
Try removing the panel from the projector and see. If the picture is ok, then the UV radiation from the MH lamp is causing the trouble. Use a toughened glass between the fresnel and lamp and see the results. toughened glass is the filter glass used in front of CRT monitor to reduce glare.
Praying for success.

hmmm
thanks for the suggestion.
had thought about that. but the problem persists even after
putting off the lights.
another thing. i am using CFL and LEDs. so i don't know how important is UV radiation with these sources.

Screwed LCD
HI,
This weekend did not bring any luck to me, rather I screwed my LCD panel.
To enhance the brightness I tried to remove the anti-glare coating, and I think I removed something else. B'coz after removing that coating the LCD is completely transparent, and there is no image seen on it.
It was a sheet type of coating which I removed with a lot of care, with no results.
One good thing is that if I put that sheet back, I can see the image on it, but I am not able to glue it that well as it was before.
I am attaching the pics here. If anyone can help me, it will be really great.

Oh No!!!!!!!!!!!
OH NO!!!!
Dude I am afraid you pulled out the polariser film. With out it image from LCD will not be visible.
A WARNING FOR ALL
Some lcd's do not have an anti glare film to remove. The Anti Glare surface is kind of a MATT finish liquid which is sprayed on to the Polariser film.
I am afraid it may not be possible to restore your LCD back to the original form it will not stick back again properly.Try cello taping the edges. If you use any glue between the film and the LCD it will be visible in the projected image also.
Polariser film itself is availablefrom certain sources you may buy that and stick it on your LCD also. But could be a costly affair.
polarizer film available here
In my humble opinion it is not worth removing the Anti glare considering the risk involved and the gains are only marginal. I also feel if the Anti glare is present screen door effect is less visible.
Thanks,
Gitesh

You got it absolutely right buddy 🙂
I pulled off the polarizer film.
Can you suggest what glue can i apply to put it back.
I have nothing to lose on it now, so will give it a try and then I may go for a new one 🙁

Try the transparent fevifix but once cured difficult/ impossible to remove. You can try feviGum also but bond wont be that strong but if you screw up u can remove the adhesive easily.Make sure there are no air bubbles in the adhesive layer. Diluting fevi gum with water may help in reducing air bubbles. After applying adhesive and sticking film stick the edges with cello tape.
Wish you good luck..

Hi Gitesh,
I had another question. What should I do to increase the brightness ?
Should I get a bulb with higher watt rating ?
Or something else can help ?

Triplet
Hi All,
I still don't have a triplet lens, I am using the ordinary OHP lens.
It would be really good if anyone has a spare lens. I am not getting a triplet here in Delhi and Lensel Pune is not responding.
Or, somebody in Pune can help me get the lens.
The help is highly appreciated.

Got it going...
Hi Guys
,
Yes, you read it right, I got it going !!!
First thing I did was to put the polarizer film back, I used Fevicol 🙂
The glue is not visible after drying. Yes, its not like the original anymore, but acceptable.
For brightness I had to fine tune the LCD. Earlier I had just increased the brightness to full, but the image was still dull.
When I increased the contrast to full, the image got much brighter.
Will be preparing a silver screen for it now, lets see how it goes.
Thank you all for the help and all the best for urs
