Guys,

I found an OHP with a barrel lens that claims to throw bright images over a longer distance. Please look @ it.

It is a "Transpaque 5010"

whoa 400 is a bit much i'll wait till the price goes down...lol

thanx

Yea, 400 is steap, I paid a little more. The real advantage of this panel is that you don't need a PC. I really didn't want to be tied to running the inputs through a dedicated PC, so the choices where buy a normal LCD monitor and get a coverter. This worked out to be cheaper in the long run.

This panel fit the way I wanted to use it, but is certainly not for everyone.

Samsung 150MP

Negative,

Yeah, I bought mine at my local Best Buy store (sound like a sales pitch? haha) but it cost me an arm and 495 bux after tax. There was a 50 dollar mail-in rebate. Like the TinkMan said, you do not need a PC to use this monitor. However, the picture quality was much better coming from my PC DVD player as where my regular DVD (via s-video) came out grainy, and it is a very nice palyer too so it must just be the converter. It is not for everyone (because of the price) but since you are into PC games (as so am I) and will prolly watch DVD's (from the PC) on it as well then you cannot go wrong with the picture quality🙂 I went through 3 monitors to get to this one🙁 EQ2 is gonna kick *** when it comes out in the Winter (I hope it ships then). I had to adjust my brightness in the DVD software for it to come out nice (but that was easy). Cable comes through good to (great superbowl screen🙂)

I've already posted this but...

You can save yourself over $100 by buying a 'standard' monitor and getting an xga 'line doubler' - which gives you composite, coax and s-video inputs. The line doubler also has a tv tuner and remote! It allows you to adjust color and contrast as well.

Here's one for $68...

This way you can save and get a good monitor for ~$240 like the CMV 1515, with 500:1 contrast and 15 ms response. I've already torn this unit down and it is perfectly suitable for a projector so long as you can have the controller board at a 90 degree angle (homemade enclosure) rather than flat (OHP).

because...

There is a flat flexible cable (ffc) on a driver board (top of the panel) that is connected to another driver board on the side of the panel. The cable is too short to allow the boards to be positioned any more than 90 degrees without an extension. This is fine for an enclosure, but not for an OHP. Extending the cable is a pain.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Holly Sh*#t that is the best picture I have ever seen anyone post. It's like porn for the tech geek. Great pic I see the cable.

So if I don't mind making an enclosure is the cmv1515 real easy to take apart? How was the rip down ? Do you like the monitor's picture ?

teardown was a breeze...

For anyone with reasonable mechanical skills and a light touch. As would be the case with any monitor, there are many small delicate connectors that can not take any punishment. There is also a disassembly methodology that should be followed. After removing the bracket (for the stand), there is a single screw in the bottom of the case that is removed first. To physically open the case there are pry points on the the top of the case that you must use to properly disassemble.
