Katana will not have a new version , just PCB enhancements . However we will make a new DAC only USB input based on ess9038q2m that is more "traditional". It will need a USB transport or just connect your laptop/phone

Im curious.. will Allo solve its heating issues with Katana. I had seen a heating issue of your digione signature in computer audiophile thread.

to be honest... whenever I leave my allo products turned on.. I am a bit worried that my apartment may catch fire... (even with my replaced unit)..

any quality assurance measures from allo's part? we need a feedback from you especially when we buy the upcoming LPS..

Katana has an output stage in class A..that means heating is part of design.


While we tested each board that leaves factory , issues can and will happen.

Do you know why my Katana only plays Dop DSD files correctly only when I resample(SoX) files to 32/176.4?
I use moode 4.4 with mpd 20.21.3.

Do you have plan to upgrade Katana for playing DSD(no Dop)?

I am checking why , but most likely it has to do with clocks frequency and driver requirements. DSD is not possible physically on i2s only DOP

Hi Guys,
In Katana documentation I read that the Rpi gpio pin that are used are pins 3,5,35,12 and 40. Is that all for signal?
What pin is used by isolator for power? 2? 4? or both?
What pin is used by isolator for ground?

I would like to connect pi to isolator using short wires to fit my casing model.

Yes the pins of Katana are correct , for power isolator uses either/ both 2/4 (shorted internally) and all Gnd pins and also shorted so you can use any..

I know about i2s limitation. I was thinking about some ak4137 embedded like terratechnos did with their Terra-Berry dac which can reclock upsample to dsd256 with great results.

So PCM on i2s then resample to DSD and sent to dac ic ? I think thats what Mark is doing.
