left overs
Hi HifiZen
I would be intrested in 2 of the leftover boards.
Is there going to be a more formal list of orders or are we just going to stick our names and order down here?
Thanks speak to you soon
Mark.

Heck, The tranny is no problem and you can always use a Frosted Flakes box like the other guy someplace in this thread did for the case!!

Is there a List already?

my 2 boards arrived today. they are beautiful. thank you so much chad and ryan for doing such a great job!
Pictures of the boards!!!
The boards that were produced are beautiful, silkscreened layer, solder through holes, etc... very nice product for $5!!! (And i'm very happy to see that some money might be put towards the board!!!)
THE PICTURES WERE SCANNED AND MIRROED SO THAT: If you were to print them on transparencies, and overlay them, they would be the board basically (pick a point on one picture, move to the next and its the same point on the other side of the board) (IE: i mirroed one of them)..
Link to the Aleph-X Board Pictures is:
http://picturehost.koolscooby.net/pictures/2003-2004 School Year/Audio/Aleph-X/Board Scans/
I scanned these in on my old parallel scanner at 300 DPI (so the JPG's are huge)... quality is pretty good...
There are 3 classes of resolution... Hi, Med, Lo, beware the Hi resolution are over one meg a piece...
Thankyou very much Chad for ordering these boards, and thanks to the "middle man" distributers... it couldnt have been done without you guys! 🙂
time to order parts!!!

We have to be careful not to run all of them at the same time or we could have another power outage here in the US from all of the current draw😀 . Also, will we be contributing to global warming with all the heat these things will be giving off?

Balanced pre-amp now??
So what are people going to use as a balanced pre for these x-amps? This is a balanced amp right? So to get its maximum benefits a balanced pre would be needed?

Thanks for your hard work, Chad!! Got my boards yesterday and they look great!
Now I just have to find the time to start filling them...

Got my boards
Chad
Thanks much for the boards, they look great. Count me in on most group buys for any parts for this amp 🙂

Thanks Chad! I got the boards yesterday; they look fantastic. I can't believe I got 2 great boards delivered to my door for less than $CDN20! Wonderful 😀
Thanks
Thanks Chad, the boards arrive yesterday, and they look fantastic indeed.
I hope to be on the small percenteage of people that are actually to build this amp 😉
Yes, can be interesting another group buy for parts.

Well if someone who knew alot about what they are doing (not me), came up with a great design, i'm sure we could do what we did with the A-X's? Have the boards mass produced and group ordered if we could sell enough... anyone else up for leading the project possibly?
I am in the process of populating my first pcb and have a few questions about the board and component choice.
1. Is there any sonic difference between using the IRF9610 or the ZVP3310A devices? I have both so could go either way there.
2. What is the purose of the R48 and R49 position which is shown as a 0 ohm jumper in both locations? Why put space for a resistor if there is only a jumper there?
3. Is a half watt metal film for R-21 ok? Grey called for a 3 watt resistor in this location....
4. What is a good value to start at for C7,8,9,10 ? I don't want to oscillate when I run it up the first time....
5. I assume that it is ok to use the IRFP240 device in leiu of the 044?
Note that I am building this first unit to get used to and learn about this design. Its going to be built exactly as it is on the diagram.
Thanks in advance for any input you might shed on these questions.

The 0 ohm resistors, as told by other people on irc, are simply to prevent shorting of some sort they guessed (without even looking at the schematic), i'm guessing that too, so that if something shorted out, the rsistor would burn up, not the fets? just a guess
