New Aleph-X PCB group order...

There will be no freeze on this order. At some point, I will stop the wiki list so that I can ship the original orders out, then any new orders after that will come from the remaining boards... This time I will order lots of spares, and will continue to sell them on a first-come first-served basis until they are all gone. So, no worries about being cut off.

I'm putting together the payment and shipping details for the original order right now, and will post shortly.

Complete Instructions - read carefully

:att'n: I have a very large number of orders to process, so please read the ENTIRE post, and follow the instructions precisely, including the exact email "subject:" titles I have requested.

Board Specifications

- 4.9 x 5.3 inches (125 x 135 mm)
- double sided, plated through
- 2oz copper plating
- solder mask, both sides
- hot air solder leveled finish
- silkscreen, top side
- includes "EXT" connections for multiple power MOSFETs connected off-board (for high power versions)
- schematics and parts list (BOM) are here

Price

- Each board is $5.00 USD, plus shipping and transaction costs. This is more than the actual production cost, so surplus funds left over will be donated to a charity on behalf of diyaudio.com.

Schedule

- estimated production order date: December 22, 2003
- production completion by: January 20
- estimated date I will receive boards: January 24
- estimated ship dates: January 27-28
- last sign-up day for shipping from US: January 13
- your payment must be received by: January 13

***** Wiki sign-ups after January 13 will be ignored, and all payments received after January 13 will have to wait until the remaining boards have been imported to Canada, and I begin shipping orders from Vancouver. *****

Shipping Methods and Cost

some useful info:
Board weight: 55g / 2oz
Bubble envelope (for small orders): 15g / 0.55oz
Shipping origin: Seattle, WA, USA

United States:
Orders will ship by USPS Priority Mail service, which costs $3.85 for all orders up to and including 7 boards (under 16oz). For larger orders, you may want to request the order be split into several smaller packages (easier for me too), or go to USPS or Priority Mail Rates to calculate the cost based on weight and origin/destination zip codes using the online rate calculator. Priority Mail service is not insured, so if you wish to have insurance, please add that cost and make a specific request for insurance in your email.

Canada:
USPS Global Priority Mail will be used. Small orders will be sent in GPM Flat-Rate envelopes at $4 USD for any Canadian destination. The flat-rate envelopes cannot be insured, so if you desire insurance, a different option will be required, and you will need to determine the cost at USPS . See also USPS GPM Info . If desired, you can ask to wait until I've imported the remaining boards to Vancouver, and I will ship them via Canada Post.

International:
Combined orders will be handled separately - I will work with each group organizer to arrange the details. Otherwise, international orders will ship by USPS. Generally, Global Priority Mail (GPM) is the best choice, but check here first to see if there is GPM service to your country, and what the rate is. Flat-rate envelopes are usually cheaper, but not insured.

Payment

All payments must be in US currency, no exceptions. I will accept:
  1. PayPal to (my diyaudio membername)@yahoo.com - This is the preferred method. It is quick, secure, and low-cost. In order to accept credit card payments via PayPal, I have upgraded my account to Premier status, so there is a small charge for every transaction. If you send payment by PayPal, please add 2.9% + $0.30 to cover this fee. Please try to use this method, it saves me a lot of work.
  2. Money Orders in US Dollars. These may be drawn from a bank, post office, Bidpay service, or wherever. Read the Instructions section, item #2 to find out where to mail your money order (it is a Canadian address).
  3. Personal cheques drawn on US banks. Please allow additional time for your cheque to clear before the Jan 13th deadline. Read the Instructions section, item #2 to find out where to mail your cheque (it is a Canadian address).
  4. I investigating Western Union for some international orders where other methods are not available. I do not know yet if I will be able to get USD transfers here in Canada. If you plan to use Western Union, please send me an email with the subject "Aleph-X Payment via Western Union", and I will reply when I have the details.
  5. Cash. This is a last resort! I recommend you do not send cash in the mail, but if you have no alternative, or you feel safe doing so, I have no reason to turn it down. I highly recommend you disguise the cash as something else, and make sure it is not visible from outside of the envelope. If you send cash, YOU ACCEPT THE RISK OF LOSS - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CASH LOST IN THE MAIL! If it goes missing, there is nothing I can do. For your reference, I had 1 reported missing cash payment out of 3 cash payments sent in the last group order...
    [/list=1]
I will not accept wire transfers, as they are extremely expensive and very slow in the North America. My apologies to the Europeans, as I know this is a common and inexpensive payment method in Europe.

***** All payments are due by January 13, 2004. This should be plenty of time to arrange and send payment. *****

    Disclaimer / Order Conditions

OK, this is just the usual fine-print, since I am not a business and can't deal with certain situations. First, I will not ship your order until full payment is received, and there will be NO REFUNDS (unless it's a large amount), so please calculate your payment carefully and send the correct amount. Second, I cannot accept any returns. Barring a manufacturing defect (highly unlikely), the boards will work as described on the diyAudio.com forum if properly assembled. The boards will be carefully packaged, but I cannot take any responsibility for loss or damage during shipment - consider insurance for large orders. For small orders, the boards are inexpensive, and the additional cost of insurance may not be worth it.

    INSTRUCTIONS

:att'n::att'n::att'n: Read and understand all of the above information, then follow this checklist:
    1. Take your time, and double-check as you go to make sure you don't miss something or screw up a detail (like your shipping address...).
    2. Calculate payment: (USD $5.00 x quantity) + (shipping cost) + (transaction fees as needed)
      example:
      Code:
      6 boards: $30.00
      USA Shipping: $ 3.85
                    ------
      Subtotal: $33.85
      PayPal fee: $ 1.28
                    ------
      Total: $35.13

Don't bother adding a tip, since all excess funds are going to charity anyway. Don't worry though, the shipping volunteers and I will deduct our pizza and beer expenses first. 😉
    3. Send payment to (my membername)@yahoo.com or send me an email with the subject "Aleph-X Payment via Mail", and I will reply with the mailing address for your payment (note that it will be a Canadian address). Make sure you allow sufficient time for delivery and cheques to clear before January 13.
    4. Regardless of payment method, send me an order confirmation email containing:

      To: (my membername)@yahoo.com
      Subject: "Aleph-X PCB Order Confirmation"
      Message:
      - Your name and address, exactly as you want it to appear on the shipping label
      - Your order quantity
      - Your payment calculation and total
      - Payment method, and the date payment is sent
      - Any special instructions or shipping requests which are not the default method listed above
    5. Stop. Take a short break, then come back and review each of the above steps to make sure you didn't miss anything.
      [/list=1]
NOTE: If you are part of a combined order, you should not email me. Instead, talk directly with the person who is coordinating combined payment and/or receiving the shipment for you. If you are the person organizing a combined order in your country, please email me a list of the member names and quantities for each person in your combined order, so that I can compare to the wiki list.

Your prompt response is appreciated. The sooner you can get your payment to me, the better, as I'm fronting the production cost this time.

      Thanks.

Hi Chad,

are You sure 2.9% surcharge for PayPal is enough?
I think for receiving payments from another country an additional "crossborder fee" will apply.
As You`re probably receiving quite some money via PayPal this might be noteworthy!

Here what the Paypal Website say (under fees):

"If you receive a payment from a user in another country, an additional cross border fee will be charged. The cross border fee is an additional 1% for U.S. Dollar payments and 0.5% for Canadian Dollar, Euro, Pound Sterling, and Yen payments. This cross border fee is currently waived for Canadian sellers receiving payments from U.S. buyers. "

cocolino:

Yes, you're right. The fees actually vary from place to place. PayPal doesn't really make the info easy to find on their website, they just seem to list the major trade countries. International PayPal users can add the extra currency conversion if they know what it is or they can estimate.

Otherwise, there is sufficient surplus in the PCB price to cover packaging material costs, and a few cents here and there for currency conversion. Actually, with the recent production discount announcement from Advanced Circuits, we may be looking at a sizeable charity donation at the end of all this!

Hello Chad,
I didn't found your address. :bawling: I will pay with bidpay (money order)
Where should I send the MO? And how do you like your name to be written on the MO?

Thx!
