My degree is a ** in Physics from UC Davis, and there was not much specialization.
I thought you were jokin, Nelson.
But it is this board that think BE-ESS is a dirty word. (what comes out of a bull)
Bachelor of Science,

I hope you don't mind - I posted link to pdf , to your post here , and entire article on my blog , on Baby DiyA

(just say - if from any reason - posting entire article is questionable )

Well the article is 'owned' by audioXpress (the same as multimediamanufacturer). They allow me as author to have it on my own website and to link to it, but not to have it copied all over the place.
So the link would be fine if you can leave it at that.

I believe Nelson directly addressed Post #39 with the Rushmore speaker system.
Spectacular product with almost zero dealer interest, because the product had no upgrade path and discouraged sales of ancillary product.... cables and the like.

iPod doesn't have to be (too) compressed.
I'm sure the Rushmore's are fabulous. Maybe I will get to hear them if I ever get to visit Chez Pass.

I don't have an ipod, but doesn't the ipod support apple lossless audio codec (alac)?
If that is true, there is no need for compression.
I don't have one either but know that one does not need to rip mp3's and that less lossy options are available.
A few years ago Dave Wilson was demoing with an iPod at a show and I'm sure they were high res files... (not an endorsement, simply an observation)

What you are saying is 100% right. Flac or other lossless files sound fine. I just know that with my ravens, everything in the source in terms of high frequency noise comes through (the good and the bad, and likely the ugly if there is any around). I've always lusted after the Rushmores. They just seem pretty much the ultimate end of the line setup. One buy and you live in audio nirvana forever. So, now I am just waiting to win the lottery so I can buy a used pair.
