Had a busy day with work yesterday (leaving again in about 20 minutes). Just drinking my coffee and jumped onto the forum.... WOW, you bunch have been busy! hahaha
As Leadbelly suggested, I stopped by Princess Auto (thank you Leadbelly). Found some really crazy looking miniature speakers for $1.21 ea. They run at 8 Ohm 5/7W. So I connected them to a mini home stereo radio just for kicks. They sound like ****... I'm looking at the foam headrest and decided to just slip the speaker into the open slot where the headrest support would sit. I'm not even sure why I did this? WHOA! What the heck just happened?!? The sound was transformed into something that was very unexpected. These are absolutely usable!
Another run out of the house to meet with another client. On my way, the Salvation Army now appears to be open. I have a weakness for the Salvation Army Thrift Shop. I pick up a pile of mini speakers for $17. Not much is marked for Ohms and Watts but they are all JVC so quality should be reasonable. Bring them home and rip them apart. come up with a 3" speaker that has a rather substantial magnet. The case indicated 6 Ohm.
There were a few 3" speakers in that pile. different Ohm ratings on the cases and speakers. Bring out the multi-meter and they all have closer to 6 Ohm resistance.
I also stopped at the car audio shop. Not a big box store car audio. Owner was super awesome and walked me through the various units. JVC puts out 22W RMSx4. Alpine 19.5W RMSx4. Sony, etc. all below that. Kenwood's higher end line is equivalent to JVC. I'm pretty sure I will be going with the JVC...
Got on-line and found a calculator to figure out what I am working with... it appears to work!
I have read each and every one of your comments. Some of the comments go too far off my parameters and those get dismissed. Some are close to my parameters and I pay a little more attention to those. I thank all of you for all of your comments. Even when off the path I'm on, there's often tidbits of useful information! Indigent Audio - you gave me the idea of running things in Series/parallel and running Left/Right sound into each headrest. The photo more or less shows how I will accomplish this.
Attached are some photo's of where I'm at. I'm not sure I can make the 3" work. but now that I've made some calculations, 6 Ohms is the route I need to go for that center speaker. The only reason I'm able to work with that center speaker is that I need to modify that console anyway...
Cheers

No photo at the moment. Being truthful, my wife and I just did a 50km bike ride and I'm feeling too lazy to take the photo with my phone and email it to my laptop.
On our bike ride, I mounted the rear rack to my bike and tossed a Pannier on. We rode over to the car audio shop. Shout out to Sound Solutions in Victoria, BC. If you're in Victoria looking for knowledgeable people, here's where you go! That and I would much rather support a local businessman over a large box store.
I purchased a JVC Digital Media Receiver KD-X470BHS for anyone who is interested. I also asked him not to laugh at my front speaker selection... He promised he wouldn't. So I walked over to our bicycles (he was courteous enough to allow us to bring them into his shop) and pulled out 2 little rectangular speakers and my 3" dash speaker. He was true to his word! He didn't laugh but he did look at me a little funny. "Hey, they don't make car speakers in the size I need, I gotta make these work". He was great about it. Checked over my wiring diagram and gave a quick look at my Ohm calculations. He then walked me through adding some Caps to limit the bass so they don't crackle after I get them installed. He went so far as to test the caps on the speakers to make sure his calculations were correct. On a $250 after tax purchase, that is unreal customer service! Made my purchase and stuffed everything into the Pannier bag and then we chatted with the shop owner for another 10 minutes before we carried on our way.

Or you could get even more adventurous and try to find an old Monsoon.
I might still have some of those. The big ones for sure, the little ones maybe. They worked reallly well for SDX7 and Silver Flute W14.

Yeah, I was thinking of the small ones, although I don't think a stereo pair would fit in the console. That's why I thought of all the little TV speakers at PA, they're all like 1"x3" or 1"x4" or some such thing, can get a stereo pair in there.
Yes, and I thank you! The little TV speakers from PA are going to go into the head rests.
I just picked up a set of HERTZ K165 component 6.5" & tweeter. They are going to be a crazy tight fit but they will fit in the back. They have a 93.5 dB rating and a lower wattage rating. I heard them running from just deck power in the shop and they sounds pretty good. I compared them to a couple sets of 2 way speakers and the sound quality was quite noticeably improved.

Check Moss Motors
Hey MGBGT,
Have you checked Moss? Audio - Accessories - MGB | Moss Motors
I had a '70 TR6 that I was able to get panels for that ran beside the console to the firewall and housed some 6" speakers...best of luck.
