Opinions on preamps are like . . . I won't bore you by repeating this already-done-to-death joke . . . the point is, you'll find there are so many opinions, you won't know which to follow. If I were you, I'd just proceed with the preamp as you plan to.
When you've finished, you'll have a useable headphone amp that you can use while you're building the main amp. Just be caereful to ensure that the heater voltage of the 5687 and 6922 is at the correct potential (+41v) above ground, given by the voltage didvider. Test it before you plug those tubes in. This is to avoid exceeding the maximum heater-cathode voltage, which could destroy the tubes.

Because it's an OTL headphone amplifier. It looks like an iteration of Alex Cavalli's "Cavalli-Lovell" design, which was based on Morgan Jones' headphone amp. The thread on Headwize introducing it can be found here. Where did you find it presented as a preamp?
Aaron T.
It was emailed to me from a different thread. It was being used as a headphone amp but it said it would make a nice preamp also. I don't have to build that one it was just a suggestion since i have no clue what it would sound like just by looking at it. Suggestings would be greatly apreciated.
