I found this document very interesting reading (lots of pictures)

This particular doc deals, with splicing wires (connecting two end to end), thijngs like proper tensioning of cable ties, correct application of cable shrouds, etc... all kinds of things relating to wires... Had an interesting bit about failing gold coated connectors where the layer of gold actualy develops microscopic cracks. Also specificies acceptable cleaning compounds and many interesting things.

I could see many of the errors I used to make in standard constructions, and even some I didn't know were errors, or at least not up to NASA standards.

Spending a few minutes looking through this was worth it, and will certainly lead to better standards in my wireing work etc
