I found this document very interesting reading (lots of pictures)
This particular doc deals, with splicing wires (connecting two end to end), thijngs like proper tensioning of cable ties, correct application of cable shrouds, etc... all kinds of things relating to wires... Had an interesting bit about failing gold coated connectors where the layer of gold actualy develops microscopic cracks. Also specificies acceptable cleaning compounds and many interesting things.
I could see many of the errors I used to make in standard constructions, and even some I didn't know were errors, or at least not up to NASA standards.
Spending a few minutes looking through this was worth it, and will certainly lead to better standards in my wireing work etc

Fascinating stuff. "Best practice" type info can be very hard to find on the net, and often leads to misleading advice.
Great document, but surprised they don't mention the fold-over-each-other splice that I have used in places I don't think a side-by-side splice is strong enough.
