Nanny Filter breaks URL links

Lol, it looks about as Australian as Outback Steakhouse 😀

Seriously though, the link is failing because it was altered, but it was done in a way which I don't believe is consistent with the autocensor here.

Ok. But the word "****" is in the URL. How is that not an error?
Also dare I say, **** is not a "bad word" in North America anymore. Neither is Fart.
At the risk of running into laws of the forum, maybe it's time to re-visit the language laws on this site?

But is it?

The link is clickable and is a different colour to the text (typically blue/purple). This means the autocensor has not touched it. If the autocensor had changed it, the link would be in regular black text and would not be clickable. [EG:- https://www.bunstersworldwide.com/products/bunsters-****-the-bed-hot-sauce-12-10-heat]

No, this appears to have been entered into the post after already being changed to asterisks.

Also, please don't ban me because I pointed out flaws in the censoring?
All in the name of science 😉

Allen is right, base don that experiment. The censor only changes what appears in th forum, if you go to edit it is still there (allen can confirm for you). In your URL the **** has been replaced with **** even in edit mode. That strongly suggests it is not the nanny censor in action.

I can't duplicate the highlight. However between kodabmx, a well-known and valued human member; and an opaque ill-tempered autocensor buried too deep in code for causal inspection, I know who/what I would blame first.

IMHO, URLs should be exempted. Apparently they are, with exceptions. Like the twit filter which inconsistently blocks twits. I can't see a twit-started thread, but I can see replies to it in my Alerts, which is more spooky.

May I suggest a method to test this yourself. Post the word in question here in this thread and it will come up as asterisks. Now go in and edit your post and you will see the word in all its glory.

Since kodabmx can edit the first post here (any thread starter can), he will see that the word was replaced before the post was submitted. (I see you posted at the same time as Dave, who said the same.)

No, I'm just pasting the URL. It just comes up as plain text with **** instead of s h i t and not a clickable URL, but editing and saving replaces it with a clickable URL that also doesn't work.
The expected result is the site and URL in this pic.
