Naim Audio OLED Display Panel Fading

By a friend occurs an issue at the display on this device:
Naim | All-in-one-Player | Uniti-Serie | SuperUniti

Obviously there are several other models with the same technology and the same basic deficiency.

You can find a lot about this on the web, but no helpful information:
Naim Audio Forum Archive
NaimUniti Mk.1 display panel fading - Hi-Fi Corner - Naim Audio - Community
Naim Unitiqute -- repair or cut my losses? | Audiogon Discussion Forum
Naim gebraucht, Geräte mit Display - Langzeiterfahrungen, Kaufberatung Stereo - HIFI-FORUM (in German)
http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-33-1036-678.html#34185 (in German, #34185-#34213)

The actually question is, what is the exact reason therefore and whether sustainable self-repair is possible by replacing the associated parts (Naim Audio unfortunately recommends - like many others - always urgently not to lend a hand and invest the 300 to 400 € costs for genuine repair service).
Thank you for your advice

I thought early oled displays have the issue of color fading due to the 'O' (organic) component.
I doubt it's a control or driver electronics issue.
It might be the only cure is to replace the display.

I'd say naim are aware of the issue and maybe they have an updated display that requires other parts to be updated.
Thus the 'we are the only way to repair it'.

Or I could be totally wrong 🙂

Hello matt,

I guess you didn't find a suitable replacement screen for your Naim on AliExpress.
You can try to buy on this website, they can perfectly solve the problem of Naim displaying dark and will not display reverse at all.
I've tried it myself.

Here:

Hello,

I want to replace the dead display of my Uniti Lite.

I removed the two screws of the main display board and can move the display board but i don't understand how I can slide/get it out enough so I can reach the dead display module itself to replace it. It seems there is not enough place and I don't see the solution.

Can somebody explain me how to do this, please? I don't find instructions on Youtube.

TIA

Kind regards,

Christophe

Lessons learned: It's recommended to buy parts from a seller which provides clear instructions and helps you when needed. Here the replacement screen comes with pdf replacement manual, the replacement flat cable and 2 years warranty: Link

I think you have the Naim Audio model from this review:
https://www.schlegelmilch-highend.d..._uploads/NAIM_unitilite_stereoplay_3-2013.pdf
The replacement-type seems to be according the sticker "LC-OL12864-09-YO-NAB"
suppliers are under
https://lcdstore.de/24-Grafik-OLED-Modul-gelb-zB-fuer-Audioplayer-NAIM-UNITI
and
https://www.lcdandmore.de/p/ersatz-display-modul-geeignet-fuer-naim-audiosysteme
and
https://www.ebay.de/itm/314617740503
where you find several replacement-hints - also here:
https://community.naimaudio.com/t/finally-managed-to-update-my-old-uniti-1/28683
Several years ago I had the same model for a display replacement. After taking a closer look, I returned the unit to the owner to be sent to Naim Audio.
Because it's now 12 years old, there's a chance Naim Audio will provide the service manuals, which should also contain the replacement instructions.
