🙂 Thrilled again!
So I got the PCBs in today. I put together an amp. It works great!! Now to wire up my enclosure for two amps. Had to remove the other to have this one in its place.
Cant wait for my B1 to get here.

Those already in the GB and have been invoiced should not be concerned. It looks like we will probably get enough orders to put the order in.
By the way I just got the boards from FedEx a few minutes ago!! YAY 🙂
I will post some pics later.

Hi Udaily! I thought I'd missed the opportunity again to ever build this amazing amplifier. If not so sign me in for 1 stereokit 🙂. I'm under moderation so please my mailadress is in my profile!
Regards Nenne
I'm excited to get my kits, thanks for all the hard work from you guys in putting this GB together. I'm going to pair this amp with my Aikido preamp I'm building right now so it should sound fantastic! 😀

All of my sources are line level so I guess all I need is a potentiometer and a source selector. I'll have a look at the gain clone implementations that are out there.
Have there been any order cancellations/are there any slots available on the group buy for this "kit?"
thanks!
Did you want it simple or convenient?
Simple:
Greyhill 3-4 position selector switch and 10K pot.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Grayhill-71-Ser...nectors_Switches_Wire?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
Convenient:
3-4 position switch controlling relays and input indicator LEDs, and 10K pot.
Deluxe:
Remote controlled input selector and volume, a Pass labs "B1" or Pavel "audio refiner" buffer before the Rev._C
Youre welcome guys. Peter and I have worked hard but so much credit goes to the guys at Twisted Pear and especially to Mauro. Thanks to them. Peter has worked at least twice as hard as me and has a lot to go as he is kitting!! I dont envy the guy.
I cant emphasize enough how nice these amps sound!
Uriah
B1 mmmm yummy

Are There Any More Kits Left?
Please let me know if there are any cancellations. I would be interested in a stereo kit. I haven't read the entire thread but it looks like you could take Paypal, how about a money order (the wife has the Paypal account and what she doesn't know won't hurt me)? Thanks, Mark

Mark please email Peter at ps@cs.caltech.edu
To ALL if you want kits please email me or Peter. I am leaving for the night. I hope you all have a Happy New Year.

Could someone walk me through the implementation of a 4 position input selector, volume control and a buffer stage?
Even though all my sources are line level, I realize the importance of buffering the input. I like the clean implementation of an integrated amp vs having two chassis w/ an amp and pre-amp.
There are a couple of stereo selectors and volume controls
in the Market place, which you could use to make an integrated amp -

Same stuff at his shop - http://electronics.dantimax.dk/

If you get the Rev._C I am sure we can step you through the addition of the switcher, volume and buffer if needed.
I will do it personally if need be.
VERY simple thing.
Do a search for the "SOAP" preamp.. Not remote controlled, but volume and buffer on a single PCB. "Appears" to be a good unit but I have not tried myself.

re; payment for project
apparently, I've upset... everyone at "peoplepc.com"... from phillipines ..to india... to south africa? I did NOT mean to do this. All I did was try to change 'e-mail' to new address. I'd like to buy project- (not hi-jack thread) or become a problem. - If moderator can point me in right direction?... and let me know how to go? T. I. A. -

Vglaso,
Whatever it takes you will have to send an email to ps@cs.caltech.edu . If we cant get emails back and forth and if we cant do paypal then I dont see how this can happen for you. So, I suggest that since you have internet access you maybe set up a free Yahoo account. Then Peter can send an invoice to that account and you can pay by credit card or connect that Yahoo account to your PayPal account and then you can pay through your paypal account out of your bank. Either way, we have to get an invoice to you through PayPal and to do that you have to have an email account that works for you. If peoplepc is up in arms then forget them! 🙂 There are way to many email providers in the world to deal with ones that charge you or create a hassle for you. Even if you set up a Yahoo account only for this group buy its something that it seems you will have to do.

Guys we are going to call it CLOSED right now and see how many people that have expressed interest up until this point actually end up paying.
If you want to be on the waiting list please email me and I will start a waiting list.

Those were on the old boards to. These 'new' boards are the 'old' boards. Exactly the same. Even the .22uf caps are marked 100nf on the silkscreen 🙂 Not to worry, both caps will work.
Anyway, thats for if you want to use 4 diodes rather than the GBJ package. So if you wanted to use some radio shack 6 amp diodes or MUR860 you could do that instead.
I have some MUR860 and I may do an AB comparison.

I seem to recall reading that there's an aux power connection on these boards. Is there enough juice to power a B1 buffered input or is the aux power mainly for led's and such?
udailey said:.....I think they are actually 160VA each but they are not your normal toroid. They are special made for Steves amps and are meant for audio. So, I expect great things and who doesnt need more chip amp toroids anyway?!
Uriah......

Despite what Mr. Dunlap said, the toroids I rx'ed to day ARE 160VA as Uriah originally stated.
Mr. Dunlap was mistaken about his own equipment / merchandise.
