One more thing, just for the helluvit, give them a try with the tweeters disconnected, might sound OK that way.
Mike
It lacks in the upper frequencies severely, that's why I added the tweeter.
I think you need a little help with a viable cross-over design, probably should roll off the mids even a simple first order network would be helpful, and a LPAD on the tweeter after the X-O capacitor.. The best point to cross depends on a lot of things, such as first break up modes in the mids, how much combing you can tolerate in the mids, the lower frequency limit (above fo) of the tweeter, and lots of things I've missed.
Measure the dcr of the tweeter as that makes some very rough estimate of VC impedance easy to come up with. Normally one would do a battery of electrical and acoustical measurements to design an XO, but probably not possible here. Some educated guesses could improve significantly upon the performance. (Sometimes not..) 😛
FWIW I would pay very serious attention to any suggestion Cal has wrt to your issues, he has a way with speakers.. 😀

I think using treble control in amp is a better solution. It pads down tweeter level and woofers high frequencies all together, and works as baffle step correction too. You'd have to build complicated crossover to match what treble knob does.

I would agree, however not all my amps have tone control and I would love the freedom of being able to use any amp with the setup.
