Let us know if that works for you. I have found that the mic and preamp just don't have enough gain, so the input has to be cranked up pretty high. I understand the desire for a calibrated setting, the lack of a detent makes repeatable gain difficult. Just be careful at max gain, I've found it very noisy. Maybe with the 20dB pad it won't be, but be careful. It's like you get to ~95% volume and all is good, then noise goes way up if twisted beyond that.

Hi again Lament,
Pano is right, unless there is a reason you need accurate SPL calibration, it's "who cares" if absolute SPL readings are off a bit.
For me, i use REW primarily for measuring distortion, and at very high SPL outdoors. So the minimum gain setting on the UMC works for me.
Like i said earlier, probably not the best advice for the regular REW user..... At the time the thread was more about solving input overload.
As far as a soundcard with recallable preamps in software, i do not have a known good recommendation. I'd probably look to Motu or similar, and try to find the lowest cost unit that has software control. I use either a X-32 mixer for multiple mics, or a babyface pro for a single.

Thanks Pano & Mark.
Looking at the specs, the UMC204HD only has +3dbu max output level.
Think I will switch to the Motu M2 with +16dbu output level, that's a massive difference!

I'm now successfully doing dual channel measurements with REW. For years I have struggled doing measurements to determine relative drivers offsets. With this setup I finally got it done. Attached are screenshots my successful modeling with VituixCad simulation to determine the offset between a mid woofer and tweeter. I was shocked how well it worked. Pink is the measurement of both drivers on a flat baffle black is model of both drivers. 0 mm, 16mm and 18mm just to show the two graphs converging.
