it finally came alive on both the channels. the highs are crystal clear since removed the zobels.

a great volume control that I use is set up like this:
50k pot (6 pins for audio L+R control)
pin 1: Ground
pin 2: Audio out (to amp)
pin 3: Audio in
and pin 1 is connected to pin 3 via a 10k resistor and a 0.1uf non polarized cap. Do the same thing on the other pins for the right audio channel.
