As much as my wife has hemed and hawed about the amplifier going into the family room she has relented and I now have her blessings for this project to join the other amps that reside in the family room after it is annodized. It does come at a price though. She has made me promise to take her to Germany (Munich) in October when I attend Sales University. Oh well, nothing in life is free.😉
A bargain if you would ask me, I think it is always worth some expenditure to support learning... I find that it is always profitable in the future...
And just to mention: Superb job Kilowattski, I really really like that amp...

Kilowattski,
Great work! Can't wait to see it anodized and put
back together.
BTW, what are you doing for feet for the amp?
Cheers,
Dennis

I call that a bargain.
Get on your knees and say thank you, Guy, the name of your spouse must be Cinderella.
You planned to go to Munich alone, Naughty Boy !
My misses needs to attend international medical symposia, to obtain required points to keep her license as medical specialist.
You dont think i let her travel ALONE, do you ?
(besides, the hotels are quite lovely, thank you)
Jacco,
I think you are right. This will be my first trip to Germany and it would be nice to share it with my wife. My company, Rohde & Schwarz sends us to Germany once a year for training on all our new products. I understand Bavaria is beautiful that time of year.

I once worked in a calibration lab and we used to get Rohde and Schwartz SDH network analyzers for calibration...as most German made equipment it's a fine piece of test equipment.
I used to work for Tektronix and HP (pre-Agilent). They both make fine test equipment, but I am very impressed with R&S and their commitment to their customers. Going to work for them was an easy decision. I am not trying to sell anything here but the R&S UPV is one of the best audio analyzers around. I sell mostly RF and Microwave test equipment.
The U.S. is well represented by Tek, Fluke and HP in the test and measurement world. At least when it was HP...no idea how Agilent is doing. The lab I was in had 90% HP calibration equipment including a HP Cesium frequency reference.
That is one heavy Aleph, you made there. Looks very good and neatly arranged. Good work, Kilowatski😎
I decided to put the A-X's on temporary halt, before getting tired of the time spend, trying to finish those amps😉 Just waiting to get fired up again, now😀
Steen.🙂
I took that road, toodecided to take a break from the Aleph X that is taking me forever to build.

And don't forget the best reason for going to Munich in October.... Octoberfest!!! 🙂 I'm not sure when exactly it happens, but the beer in southern Germany is arguably the best in the world. Sounds like it should be a good time, as long as they don't work you too hard.

You'd have to be early this year : September17-October3.
But it is fun, everyone from around the word is there.

Edwin,
send me a line and i'll be at your frontdoor in 15 to relieve you of the burden and make an end to your suffering. 😀
Very impressive.
I just noticed that you have turned the PSU caps upside-down. AFIK that is not a good idea. The safety vent must face up or if the cap is horizontal it must be as high as possible. Theese days electrolytics have more eletrolyte that the windings can absorb, so it is floating around in there, in case of faillure the safety vent should release gas, but if it's facing downwards it will blow out boiling electrolyte.....that dosn't sound like a nice thing to happen.
Magura 🙂

Jacco,
I think i will keep suffering for a while.
There are worse things than dreaming of your finished aleph.
Some day it will actualy produce music.

Kilowattski,
that is a magnificent execution!!
I reeeaallly love the heatsinks, more pictures and the finished front and top would be even more inspirational.

yikes??
I never heard of that happening. What are the odds? What will boiling electrolyte do besides run the finish on most wood floors?
I'm building an Aleph with a similar layout. Is this a deal breaker?
