We are scared of things that go bang! Our fireworks have silencers.
We also have some of the world’s most proficient snipers, so not all are afraid of things that go boom.

Crickey Cal. Didn't you tell them that the shirt often IS in Hawaii. They'd get a kick out of that.
(Cal and I have spent much time in the same part of south Maui, but never run into each other there)

Having been blessed to have seen Cal en deshabille, I can attest that would be a collision you'd not soon forget.
Jan - incel = involuntarily celibate. Lotsa ways that can happen, particularly after 46yrs of wedded bliss. Connubial / conjugal doesn’t guarantee the knocking of boots.
Ahhh - thanks. Yes, things change over the years. So do we. So do the testosteron levels.

He was a young kid manning the self checkout at 7 AM. That's the best time to visit Walmart. The typical Walmartians haven't rolled out of bed yet. Avoid the place on Friday afternoon, and all day Saturday, unless you're there for the entertainment value.
"Women of WalMart" -- you'd think they were making this stuff up, but they aren't -- whether it's Cleveland or NJ the WMT looks like a clothing and toy-bomb after 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon.
I was routinely asked for ID well into my 30's -- even when I was buying beer with two kids in the stroller.
Pronounced "wall - martians", I presume? The typical Walmartians haven't rolled out of bed yet.
"We come in fleece. Take me to your (loss) leader..." 😛
I'll admit to shopping there quite frequently. Just last week I purchased a battery for my six-year-old truck. If the "Walmart Special" lasts even half as long as the original OEM, I'll be happy. Heck, at my age I was happy to be able to lift the battery.
You are considered an old phart the instant you start complaining about the music the kids are listening to these days Ok, let’s see a show of hands...
I must admit to listening to quite a bit of the modern EDM music, but have no use for anything relating to what's called pop these days....in fact I don't even know who the players are any more.....I just fill the grandkids play list without listening.
My daughter (age 39) and I still have similar play lists of mostly 70's through 90's rock. I recall one day when she was in high school when she came in from a mall trip with her friends and was obviously hiding something. Inspection revealed 4 music CD's. I told her that two needed to be returned unopened. She snapped off about not being my business telling her what she could listen to....I said OK, but it's stupid to drop $20 on a couple of CD's when I already have them!

Yes, they are always obvious in a crowd, often by their propensity for blocking the aisle with a sideways shopping cart while operating a phone. They however look and dress differently depending on what part of the country you're in.
I was in our WM about 7:45 this morning. At this time the place is nearly empty, occupied by employees stocking the shelves, and frackers grabbing the day's supply of junk food and beer. The store can be navigated as fast as you can walk, and this morning I filled Sherri's shopping list and got out of the store in about 10 minutes, then made it to the post office as it opened at 8 AM to send out a PC board.
My Honda Element is now on it's 3rd Walmart battery in 11 years. It's an odd sized battery that only comes in only WM's higher price line at almost $100, but the Honda store wants $200 for an OEM. I suspect that both are made by Johnson Controls.
The OEM lasted 4 years, all in Florida and the WM's seem to last 3. They live through the winter, then die on the first hot week of the next summer, often suddenly, starts fine one morning, won't even crank the next morning.

A few months ago I complained to my physician about several small aches I had when getting up in the morning.
He looked at me and said, "Jan, at your age, if you wake up and feel nothing, you're dead". So I use that as my modus operandus.
Jan
Hello Jan,
i can fully agree to you physicians statement.

Cal,
BTY a knife is an advantage against an unskilled opponent or possibly two. At three chances are good you will not come out well.
I do have a crazy acquaintance who used to like to walk through New York's Central Park after dark and seriously injure the folks who tried to mug him. Turns out getting shot cured him of his need to prove himself.
Bear spray seems like a better choice, assuming it is meant to repel bears!

Count me in, I was doing that in the 80"s. I'm the Peter Paul and Mary type. I like music to relax. If I want to be aroused, I'll either have a cup of coffee or ask my wife to disrobe. In which case PPM is the right choice. You are considered an old phart the instant you start complaining about the music the kids are listening to these days
If you miss the train I'm on...
Chris, Michael has spent time here. Not sure if I bothered to get dressed. His memory would be better than mine.Having been blessed to have seen Cal en deshabille, I can attest that would be a collision you'd not soon forget.
Ed, you have to think differently when talking to a moose hugger. A blade is a scare tactic. If they are armed and dangerous, I am dead, simple as that. If I ever had to cut anybody, I'd spend the rest of my life wondering how I might have handled it differently. No too worry, I know how to defend myself. I have to go out after dark sometimes.Cal,

I don't tell him. Besides, I just made a memory stick with 2033 songs and only 251 were Jimmy. Should I feel ashamed? Help me with this one. Chris, I'm kind of on the fence here.

The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
Hey Florida guy, we're talkin' Jimmy Buffett.

You've traveled 14 years into the future? - cool. Don't tell me who the president is, I wanna be surprised.
I'm thinking Jimmy would just say - have another Margarita bro, and chill.
no, probably "dude" not bro? now I'm conflicted.

You mentioned Peter Paul and Mary, and those lyrics snuck out from under some dead brain cells in the back of my head.....They have been hiding there since the 60's.
I'm no longer a Florida guy, but I did just return from a two week vacation that did involve a pit stop at Margaritaville for a Cheeseburger in Paradise.
bucket stuff... b4 it's too late!
Just remember
#1) In your '60's, it's GO!GO!...get everything done on your bucket list b4 it's too late!
#2) In your '70's, it's SLOW Go..... complete item #1 as body and spirit allow
#3) In your '80's, it's NO Go.... retire to the Villages in mid Fla??? not

And a few pics (out of hundreds) on our trip through the British Isles earlier this month, left to right, ageless cemetery in the Orkney Isles, partying with Glaswegian Scots and Russian soccer fans in a Glasgow bar (Pipers) (x2), and...

Batteries... luv 'em or hate 'em
Yep... the lead falls off the plates during both directions (charge/discharge) due to cheap-o electrochemistry and construction. Eventually looses capacity and piles up in the bottom of the cell and produces a shorted dead cell (it'e the one that doesn't bubble with hydrogen during charging)
