My JLH Evo now with 2N1711 from ST Microelectronic with hfe 168. I like to try the old 2SD217 for outputs.
You could also try BC140-16 (or 141-16). I recently bought a couple Indian-made (CDIL) ones and they all measured nicely in 190-195 hfe.
