Frame for the back side is now done!

I now consider the speakers 99% finished! 🙂

I'll experiment with damping the back grills a bit.

Wachara: Whith two wild children in the house, I se them as protection for the Mylar not to be perforated and so that my girls don't get electricuted! 😉

SM7UYJ,
you have built what was in my mind! I know i am new here, but those pics are allmost exactly what i am going to build, i have not read the entire post, however, the enclosure on the bottom will only hide my electonics, until, if ever, decide to go hybrid. very beutiful, simple and elegant. thanks for posting the pics. i would take my hat off to you, but i'm bald and my head would get cold. I hope my project comes out like or simalar to your idea on the build.

Just finished reading the thread from start to finish and feeling very inspired. I'm currently saving up for a good pair of Quad ESLs to compliment the Quad II amps I've nearly finished restoring. But having seen this project, I'm beginning to consider the possibility for making my own.

Thanks 😀

i am going to try and upload some pics of a start fo finish job. i am allwed three per post, just look under my name, showing pics of the stator construction and some of the tl construction, a work in progress. hope this gives inspiration.

ESL membrane spacers

Hi,

"please be aware that thickness, mass and tension of a magnetostic is very different to an electrostatic membran, so supports require different position and numbers on a specific area."

Hi there: I'm new to the ESL type of speaker cnstruction, so would some of you who are knoledgable elaborate on the spacer: placement, quantity (is density correct term, such as 5/square foot)? Does the placement and quantity vary by location on the panel? If so what is the criteria for determining this. This thread was a real eduacation om ESL construction, and the system was bueatifully accomplished. ...regards, Michael

Thank you all for the kind words abt. the speakers! 😱

I have played on them almost every day scince they were finished and i'm very pleased with the sound.
Mids and highs are praised by people who have listened to them, and I have a few standing orders.(I just have to find the time to make them)

The upgrade devil has made a visit, and I'm thinking abt. going fullrange with something like the ML CLX in mind - we'll se where it lands!

As I'ts my speakers, I think any judgement of the sound will be coloured - I'll leave that to others! 😉

But I can say that so far I am very pleased!

Excellent hybrid speakers, but here's my version. Unique-sounding, and minimum sizes. bandwidth of 35 Hz - 20000 Hz. 90dB sensitivity.

Statics Man--Love your design! It's great to see something with a bit of twist on the usual implementations. I've been very impressed with the "industrial design" aspects of some of the diy ESLs posted here lately. Yours are certainly in that group of "speakers to be admired." More construction and performance details would be of great interest.
