Altec: My hobby is photography, so if you need help on getting the right exposure for your pics, please let me know! usually I use a 35mm reflex, but I'm quite expert in digital cams.. If yours have manual exposure or shutter settings, no problems to get the right image! try to put the aperture to the wider range (f 2) and let the shutter in auto mode..you should get a good image!

Hi,
Just a quick couple of questions.... are you using the lamp with a special fisture, or are you using a 12v adapter to power it up? also, do you think that would also work for an Apollo concept 2210 OHP? Your project sounds pretty interesting. Let me know. Thanks.

TREV: I've fixed the problem! thanks a lot, I changed a diode that was not transmitting electricity, and now everything works greatly!
Nice one buddy, sorry for the late reply, see, it was fixable after all lol, ive got fujinon copy lenses here that have a focal of 240mm for a projection lens regarding your question about if i have any projection lenses with a short focal.

swish, i got my lcd, its a CTX Panoview 540 it is very nice, only 640x480 but i still think it looks very nice, i am using it now, there is one dead pixel which it blue it is in the top right corner but to be honest its hardly ever noticable, i am a bit consirned about the response time though, it is active matrix but seems to still be slow so i would guess it is about 40ms, i opened it just to have a quick look, i intended to clean the front protective screen but found the lcd was attached to the front so have decided to leave it for now, the good news is that it only has one ribbon cable so it is ok for diy, i will add this to the compatable monitors list.

Hi Bull,
I got one too, very easy to strip and never done one before, definetly enough res for movies, doesnt seem too slow.
The only problem I have is a blur, but this isnt the panel its to with the ohp I think and using the flat wall.

a blur you say, i had that problem when i first tryed it out, it turned out to be the refresh rate, i turned it down to 60hz and now its fine, its nice to hear that its easy to strip, do you and any pics pls? i would like to see the results, if not can you give the setup?
Thanks,

Im at work so cant at moment.
I have pc in to the panel.
Panel on the overhead projected to the wall about 5 feet away
Screen is 40" at the moment.
Its not blurred all over and looking at the panel directly has no blur.
Its gonna be the fresnel maybe but more likely the two lenses around the mirror or simply just the fact that my white wall is flat - Ideally with an ohp like this it should be curved.

TETUTIGRE: I'm using it with a standard ac/ac 12v adapter, with 65W max output! Pretty good..
ACE:Thanks for your help, and inspiration too! Looking at your proj I upgraded mine.. tale a look at the pictures!Anyway, I already found an objective, but I'm looking for a better panel..If you still have the 6" lcds..let me know!

thanks..I think I would have built it even a little bit smaller without problems..
I'm using the same 4" lcd of the old setup as the new one has 3 flat cables on 3 sides, so it cannot be stripped!! I'm currently selling it over ebay..
Why don't you try to use a smaller lcd (6-7")? your setup will be much more smaller!

surely one with 3 cables can be used, you would just need to extend atleast 2 of them, well i've already bought this new lcd and i like it, i am using it as i type, it is very nice, my projector may be fairly big but i should get a better quality, i know 1 thing, my lamp needs to be 72cm from the lcd, i shall try it with just the 1 lamp at first but will probly try with 2 after and then cut the back off of it to make it shorter, i cant wait to try it out, the lcd is just so nice, pc, tv, ps2, pc games, movies they all look fantastic on it, i am hoping to make my projector case in a minute so i can get it running by tonight. i was wondering how do you know how many lumens the lamps are? the only thing it says on the packet of the lamps i get is 12v 50w Haloger MR16 18 deg lighting angle. i block the heat from the lamp by placing a peice of perspects infront of it, as the lamps are fairly cool anyway it doesnt melt it but removes all of the heat, the lcd stays at room temp. i will get you some pictures later of the setup and resualts later, i'm hoping to get away without using any fresnals as i dont have any but it may not work, never mind i will have to get some more from ebay.
