Hi,
I just did a recap of Musical fidelity A1, my one is the very early version of A1 I think.
Here is a list of components changed in the pdf attached below. Hope it helps anyone want to do something similar.

Hi Snow,
Did you just replace the caps or everything on your list ?
Any audible difference ?
It's good to refurb an old amp with new consumables like electrolytics but I assume you're about to swap everything in sight for new and different actives as well as passive parts. Unless you are experienced with servicing these early MF products, that's likely asking for trouble with no guarantee you will get your money's worth.
The total of your bill of materials is well over £100 by my quick estimate. That's still less than many way over-valued used A1 prices which are simply ridiculous. However, I can't see any value in replacing the small-signal semis, resistors, film caps etc. but if you want to be replace everything just for the sake of completeness, replace the old and likely over-baked PCB first, then fit new components.
Otherwise, this offer of £10/pair + postage of boards, might interest some MF fans who don't already own an A1. They don't pretend to replace the PCB of original A1 chassis but I've read that they do work reliably and make it easier to adapt to a proper heatsink. I hope the seller will have more of them to offer in future too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/353730275491?

I didnt replace the small transistors ( TR1,2,3,4,5,7), ZD1, ZD2
I also completely bypassed the phono stage, so anything phono stage related is not replaced.
It sounded perfect to me after recap
