IT LIVES in 2022..... My MUNTZ EQ has come back to LIFE!!!!!...... ONLY ISSUE NOW, is the BASS slider only affects ONE channel. I THINK I found the problem BUT I dont have a clue what these are... FILTERS?... heres a pic.. 125J.... the BOTTOM one there is OPEN.... broken?.... I am unsure what these are and where to get one to replace it.... Oh BOY.... Thought I was done with my MUNTZ. Any input is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU DIY AUDIO!!! BDBD/2022

one of them TANTALUM caps had a broken leg so I pulled them both to swap and see but one has a broken leg, might have been what caused this issue from the start. POLORIZED.... I BELIEVE I can replace them with polorized ELECTROLYTICS, I hope thats correct. Anybody know what that 125J can is and where to get one similar. HELP!!!!!! I am THIS CLOSE to buttoning up this RELIC. Its WORKING GREAT now, no real uneven heating issues anywhere, no static now... Just the BASS on one side is weak cause that 125J can there. LMK, THANKS!!! It may be an inductor in a ferrite housing. I don't know if the value is in pico henries or not but if it is, it's likely 1200000 picohenries. Maybe someone else will have more experience with them. The J is a 5% tolerance.
Of you pull it and the broken terminal is on the outside of the winding, you may be able to pull enough to make a new terminal.
If you have an inductance meter, you can pull a good one to see what the value units are.

Inductor.... OK... I will pull it and see if I can find the issue without too much destruction. Only issue left for the old MUNTZ.... away I go. BDBD/2022
yes it is an INDUCTOR. I pulled it and broke it apart, still have the "can"... most of it. WELL theres an obvious WIRE there. Problem is its smaller than a human hair and insulated too I am sure. I am unable to get any continuity reading. Its hopeless, I need to purchase yet another bad part for this MUNTZ. 1.2 MILLION picohenries.... My goodness. time to go shopping I suppose. Any help is greatly appreciated in this matter. THANKS!!! BDBD/2022
well... I suppose these will need to be replaced with some sort of equivalent as these are nowhere to be found in 2022. I noticed plenty EQ's for sale for good money... was thinking I can salvage parts from another OLD CHEAP JUNK.... but they all OLD EXPENSIVE JUNK at this point. Hmmmmmmmmmm....
Tired of searching for this part. Give it a rest. BDBD/2022

It's rare to have inductors as part of an EQ circuit. You should be able to by something with the same value from Digikey or Mouser.
Back before the days of cheap op-amp gyrators for the lower bands you used large inductors. Likely in the multi-henry range for the lower bands. Not so bad for the higher ranges.
RARE RELIC... thats my MUNTZ... This thing actually pumps out some POWER.... Strong runner here. First time for ol me in regards to repairing anything so I decided to go the BABY STEPS route and try to repair a RELIC... Great, my relic is fast becoming a pain in the REAR. Uggggggg.... Problem with Digi key and Mouser is that you REALLY kinda need to KNOW what your looking for or, spend hours searching in frustration.... Ya got that I already did that. Ugggggg........ Painful Learning Experience here. 1.2 MILLION picohenry inductor for a audio filter circuit. As Mr Carter there mentions, these have not been in use for a longggggg time........ UGGGGGGG...... Fun Fun Fun. BDBD/2022
Did you confirm that the units are in picofarads by measuring the value of another good inductor?
I THINK this what I seek. 1.2mh..... Mouser https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Coilcraft/RFS1317-125KL?qs=W38ilblRkRkhUv1hCENzTw==
sadly I do not have an inductance meter. Thank You Perry.... trying to not be a PAIN here.... Ugggggg..... BDBD/2022Did you confirm that the units are in picofarads by measuring the value of another good inductor?
gotta buy another meter it seems.... Uggggggggggggggggg..... Inductors are fun huh. More to learn... BDBD/2022
It may be worth looking at the datasheet from the bottom of the Mouser Link. 1.2 Mh could be right. Worth a try and cheap. You know it is wrong if the slider does not boost/cut that channel right.

Found some... TOKO brand, 122J and 123J but no 125J..... Uggggggggggggggg........ at this point i am wondering if theres much of a difference between the 123J and the 125J.... Availability at this point is an issue, I think I found the part. Its 10mm size to fit in there like the other one. I cant find a 125J.... Uggggggggggg....LOL........ Fun Fun Fun. BDBD/2022
I have a INSTEK GFG-8020H Function Generator and a TEKTRONIX TAS-465 Scope. Still working...LOL.... BDBD/2022Do you have a signal generator?
If so, make/model?
The last number is the multiplier. It matters the most. 125 is 12 and five zeros.
Just not sure if the 125 in your case means 1.2H or 1.2mH. Hoping 1.2 mH.
If you can neasure the DC resistance of the good one we may be able to better guess the inductance.

I am afraid them MOUSER ones may be TOO FAT at 13.5mm.... THESE 125J ones I have are approx 10mm size. Its a hard call Hmmmmm.... I would LIKE to get the correct inductor that FITS. Would suck to find they wont fit OR I will somehow mount them from behind etc.... Ugggg. BDBD/2022It may be worth looking at the datasheet from the bottom of the Mouser Link. 1.2 Mh could be right. Greetings and thank you for chiming in, I have been at this for several hours now, it APPEARS its 1.2mh in regards to all the searching I have done points at 1.2 mh. Boy oh Boy... I apologize as i am at best a rank amateur in regards to this repair electronics game and as that goes I am starting off simple, a RELIC I found on ebay..... I used to work at MUNTZ here in Honolulu in the late 80's.... Been tinkering for decades BUT always had a TECH friend or two around...... they all died. Uggggg Necessity is the mother here.... LOL... Thank you for any help. ALOHA! BDBD/2022The last number is the multiplier. It matters the most. 125 is 12 and five zeros.
