When i try turning the gain pot up the test speakers flutters and the amp will draw excessive current for about a sec and then goes back to normal.. Any ideas ?? Remove it and connect a 1k ohm resistor from pin 1 to pin 8. Replace it. If you pull one from another amp and the problem returns, it was likely defective as well. This is a VERY common failure. Mouser has them. There will be 3 different grades with corresponding prices. Any of the 3 will work.
