You say you cannot think of another sub more capable than the new MTX 9500 series...may I suggest Digital Designs 9500/9900 series...which I think is a coincidence that MTX named their new series after DD's....wannabes to me.
Resonant Engineering XXX series will also destroy this MTX sub in BOTH sound quality and SPL, as will the DD's.😉
If you don't believe me, look at the SPL competition results and judge for yourself. Also, DD's and XXX's sound NICE for car subs. I haven't heard XXX's, but their XBL motor technology is said to make them sound perfect, even better than the DD's.

Oh, and one more thing...I had a DD 9015 (even older than their current series, it is discontinued) and it was VERY efficient, as are their current sub series. I believe most are around 93dB @ 1W/1M. I only had my 15 running on 400W and it was louder and FAR better sounding than two MTX 12's...🙄
The 9015 has a music rating of 1000W (something like pink noise for 8hrs. tested) and has a 200oz. magnet, so it's decently beefy.

i couldn't get a dd 9515 to even move with 450wrms and a 4cuft box tuned to 40hz
the 9015 is much like the 3515 in that the suspension is quite a bit loser, we had no problems pushing that with only 400wrms and 4.25cuft tuned to 40hz
and i believe the sensitivity on the 9015 was about 90db 1w/1m

what SPL at 20Hz is too high? lol
and what sorta slope do I really want from 80Hz down to 20Hz?
I'm thinking about doing a Peerless car (like the Pioneer car, the Sony car, etc)
I was thinking two 12inch XLS 4ohm subs taking up the whole boot in 6th order bandpass boxes.. 😀
5inch Car CSC woofers in the front with those small Peerless car tweeters, and 6.5inch Peerless CSC car woofers in the back with 4ohm "house" tweeters... (not the little "bubble" car ones anyway)
I am thiking I may have trouble matching the SPL of the subwoofers and the 4 other smaller woofers...
I was actually only planning on running the subwoofers off 150watts each.. and the other woofers from like 50 watts each.. I really wanted to make my own amps... buying them is just TOOO expensive.. 😛

Eh, I'd stay away from a 6th order bandpass in a car environment. I'd say go with ported...tuned low.😀

and why?? 6th order means all you need is ports opening into the cabin.... with a ported, you need to do something with the woofer too.. :S
