The amp played normally with only Q240 out of the circuit. Correct?
If so, what do you see on the collector of Q238 with signal?

Let me know if this makes any sense,
Post #36/37, I confirmed lifting Q240, the amplifier would produce clean audio. After the posts/checks that followed, Q240 was soldered in, Q239 when soldered in, (also confirmed unit to pass clean audio with Q239 lifted) now doesn’t pass clean audio.
Removed Q239 (replaced earlier with a MMBFJ111) and checked, measures 158 ohms, drain to source. Replaced with a new MMBFJ111 and now the amp works as it should, led238 off for roughly 4secs, then turns on bright, unit passes clean audio.

I’ve left it unpowered for several minutes and it power up as it should, with mute and then passes clean audio as It should.
I have some tidying up to do around the board, gonna leave it unpowered for sone time, finish tidying up, then power it up and see how it behaves. If alls good onto the load bench. 🤞
Can’t say if post #40 had sone effect on it, but that’s all that was done. Q239 was also replaced with new.
