Whining is probably due to oscillation. Do you have an oscilloscope? Is this using one of PMI's PCBs? You could try using an output capacitor with lower ESR... or just keep C7.

Was looking at another versions of the pcb with larger heat sinks, but your version has more smoothing caps on the input.for my application I think this
ls better, I just have to find a better way of heat sinking the the fets
