Where did 3V and 2V come from for the zener. The schematic calls for a ZD18V, or I think an 18V zener. I will look at Onsemi, but what wattage will I need?
What voltages and current would be needed to run my combination of chips.
Sorry, my mistake, I for some reason though the 121 had more power than the 141

Would this 18V zener work? it is from onsemi. I seperated the tables by lines here. Here is the original site: http://www.onsemi.com/site/products/searchproducts/0,4426,,00.html?searchString=18V+zener+diode

What part of 47.5K is not 'defined'?

Did you even bother to look at the schematic?
Dear djk,
For ZENV4, the input impedance is 47k. For original ZEN it was only 4.7k. Transfer function of the ZEN was greatly dependent on output impedance of the preceding signal source, as ZEN is an inverting circuit. This was especially problematic for earlier version (4.7k input impedance), now it is better. The mosfet follower was my reply to the original ZEN, ZENV4 is much newer design.

3V zener is the one marked as ZD3V in the schematics (connected between base of TIP141 and GND. 18V zener is a protection to the mosfet. Small diode rated at 0.5W or 1.3W is OK.
go with the lowest wattage you can find...seems like On-Semi only produces really hefty ones...so if it doesn't fit into your PCB or whatever...get a smaller wattage one...
How about part # 1N5355B at http://www.onsemi.com/site/products/searchproducts/0,4426,,00.html?searchString=18V+zener
I assume those are 5Watt typoes...they get big in size I presume...I can't seem to open up the on-semi website for the moment...must be my ISP...

A Transient voltage suppressor is not a regular zener, it is used to protect an appliance from voltage peaks that might occour.
And the fact that it is in a sample list doesn't make it more suitable than a few cents' zener (readily available in every electronic shop).
Cheers
Andrea
haha...yeah...you guys should probably stop taking advantage of this samples program and move on to buying from retail outlets...or else they might just stop this whole thing altogether...
