This happened before to a different set of tracks. I left the pi sitting powered on for a day, and ran the Update MPD DB again. Then the files were recognized and added to the database.
--
Those two files (Thad Jones-Mel Lewis) were ripped using EAC from a disc that I suspect may be a bad pressing (skips in some CD players). I re-ripped those two tracks in foobar, updated their tags to match the others, and copied them to the folder in the sdcard. Ran Update MPD DB and it updated instantly.
I then tried copying a couple more albums and updating MPD. All are now being recognized very quickly.
This begs a question: If presented with a few corrupted or badly ripped files, does MPD crash or hang, and is then unable to update the rest of the database?

Just want to thank Tim for his hard work making this great music player. Gladly donated my 10 plus some. Been following this from the start and I really like the way it has evolved.
Good Job!
Good Job!
Thank you Martin, for the instructions in post #7554, it worked right away and was so easy to do in a terminal from my Ubuntu laptop.

Good to see the accented file names aren't a problem - I wasn't sure that it was, but worth a crack.
It seems there is one problem character. If I use the open and close brackets "[" and "]" in a folder, it seems not everything gets updated in the database.
I copied an album by B.B. King named "Live at the Regal [MFSL Ultradisc II]". If I left the open/close brackets in the folder name, the album cover jpeg would not display in Moode. When I changed the brackets to open/close parentheses, to "Live at the Regal (MFSL Ultradisc II)", the album cover displayed as expected.
--
OK, I think I've proven this...
I had several folders with "[" and "]" in their names. For instance:
/Miles Davis and John Coltrane [Remaster]/
/Mahler Symphony No. 2 [Tennstedt, LPO Live]/
/Live at the Regal [MFSL Ultradisc I]/
/Song for My Father [RVG RM 1999]/
All of these folders contained proper FLAC files with a proper JPEG file for the cover art.
If I leave the open/close brackets in the folder name, the cover art will not display in Moode 3.1.
If I change the folder name to use open/close parentheses instead of brackets, the cover art displays as expected.
The funny thing is that it doesn't matter if the open/close brackets are left unchanged in the ID3 tags. The only place where brackets in the name will cause problems is in the album folder name.
This would be easy to test. Does this happen on anyone else's Moode 3.1 installation? How about in Moode 3.6?

Hi,
User ElmarL sent me list of radio stations with non-working links. See below. I'll see if I can get good links for next update. If I'm not able to find links then the station will be removed.

Hi Tim, for Triple J and Triple J Unearthed (and all the Australian ABC stations) have a look here for the direct links:
https://radio.abc.net.au/help/streams
Double J is also good.
Thanks for this. I was able to run nano and get a look at the log files. An error message caught that one of my files was corrupted. When I looked in the Moode > Library panel, I saw that the corrupted file was not displayed. I guess MPD didn't add it to its database. That made me think about data corruption. I'll have to swap out the sdcard for a different one to see if the one I have is defective in some way.
Is there a way to test the sdcard?
Also, am I inviting problems trying to store all my music files on the sdcard along with the OS? I've read posts from other users saying they have thousands of tracks stored on various media (NAS, USB thumb drives, etc.) but I haven't seen anyone saying they're using a microSDXC card both to run Moode and store all the music. Maybe that's not a good way to use a pi w/ Moode?
Incidentally, the sdcard I'm using is a Sandisk 128GB microSDXC. This one:

This kind of now you see it, now you don't behavior feels reminiscent of dying hard drives. Does it sound like a failing sdcard to you?

I test using a Mac utility I downloaded from the Flash association - there's a similar app for Windows: H2Testw and the other apps should help diagnose https://www.raymond.cc/blog/test-an...b-flash-drives-bought-from-ebay-with-h2testw/
'Tricks' such as freezing your SD can result in being able to access a faulty disk, but it's just as much to do with luck as science.
For looking at files on your Pi, a couple of other executables, other than nano, are useful:
'cat filename' lists the contents of a file. Pipe 'more' to get it to pause at each screenful: 'cat filename |more'
or pipe grep to look for a specific string: 'cat filename|grep searchtext (pipe char is a solid-looking vertical bar on your keyboard)
'tail filename' keeps a 'live' screen display of the last screenful (20 lines?) of data in a file - fantastic for watching a log file for an event, for example.
As to whether or not to store music files on an SD, I haven't investigated it enough to have an opinion, but I don't store anything on my card and have had few problems that couldn't be attributed to cheap card or useless power supply 🙂.
I am trying to port Moode to a bootable USB SSD. I've got it to work on Jessie reliably, but haven't been able to replicate using MoodeOS, yet. When my large list of tasks is less large, I will give booting off flash and ssd a good go.
Hi,
That looks like its from the original tsunamp code circa 2014.
The Advanced kernels in Moode are different. They not only contain performance tunings and in the case of the RT kernel a true hard-rt kernel, but they include the enhanced audio capabilities that were developed by kernel dev's Clive Messers and Martin Sperl. These capabilities are listed in the (i) help next to the Linux kernel input field on System config.

Hi Tim,
When experimenting with the advanced Kernel settings in Moode Audio i can't hear any differences in my setup, but when I use the Sound Signature settings in Rune Audio I can hear slight differences between the settings.
Is it possible to integrate the shell script (https://github.com/RuneAudio/RuneUI/blob/dev/command/orion_optimize.sh) as sort of bootscript into /etc/rc.local for Moode Audio??
Thx for thinking about/overlooking it.

Re.: LibreSpot
I tried all three Kernels, with or without up-sampling but couldn't get Librespot to connect (see attachment, it says "connecting" then reverts back to its initial state). Not a big deal for me, .. just wanted to report my findings.
All the best

@r100
I had a similar thing. Even though it said 'Connecting' I tried returning to the menu and clicking 'MoodeLibre' again. Eventually it connects (Android tablet).
(I don't think this is an issue for Tim btw, since he has not yet integrated Spotify into Moode because of the volume problem.)

Hi,
Could you please be more specific?
You don't trust it will work, it will influence/harm other performance?
The only reason I would try it because of the audible difference the settings for 'ACX' make for sound.
Newer examples can be found over here;

Yeap, I'm aware that its not in Tim's domain. Greets.

Hi,
Even after integration, connection issues between Spotify Connect client and librespot server would in most cases need to be need to be reported to the dev for librespot. This is same for shairport-sync and the other add-in's. I can do the basics though like see if the server has crashed, analyze logs, etc.

Hi,
If I get a bunch of reports that these settings are doing good things then I can investigate, but even then there is a limit to how many tweek features I can include because each one creates potential unintended side-effects and a support vector for me.
You can always just add your own script to rc.local.
