Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Digi+ Pro issues

I'm having some issues with my HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro and 3.5-3.7. I also have a HiFiBerry Dac+ Pro and its solid, no issues. But the Digi+ Pro is causing stability issues where the Moode player crashes as soon as I play music. I've used both JRiver with uPnP or Logitech Media Server with Squeezelite and have the same results. I thought it might be an issue with the card but trying LibreELEC the player is stable. Any thoughts? I'm not a fan of the Kodi interface and find Moode just a better overall UI design for my use case.

Hi Tim,
I have some problem with Moode 3.7. I don't know why but sometimes Moode suddenly becomes unresponsive when music is playing, results in annoying repeated sound.

When this problem happens, Moode is disconnected with Internet, and the only thing I can do is power-off. This problems isn't happened in Moode 3.6. I am using Advanced Kernel-RT and FIFO scheduler policy.

This is consistent with my experience reported a week or so back. True for me with both 3.6 and 3.7. I'm currently running an Allo Boss dac and am using SoX to upsample to 384/24. I have not tried it upsampling to lower rates, but I seem to be having success with the Advanced Kernel-LL and FIFO scheduler. I'll listen to that configuration for another week to be sure.

Hello
I am a new moode audio 3.7 user and I am trying to install packages via pip and I end up with issues:

this works
sudo apt-get install python-setuptools
sudo easy_install pip

but when I try to

sudo pip install moment

or
sudo pip install moment && sudo pip install pylms && sudo pip install python-mpd2

I end up with an error
Command "/usr/bin/python -u -c "import setuptools, tokenize;__file__='/tmp/pip-build-aL2xrj/ruamel.ordereddict/setup.py';f=getattr(tokenize, 'open', open)(__file__);code=f.read().replace('\r\n', '\n');f.close();exec(compile(code, __file__, 'exec'))" install --record /tmp/pip-sFSopH-record/install-record.txt --single-version-externally-managed --compile" failed with error code 1 in /tmp/pip-build-aL2xrj/ruamel.ordereddict/

if anyone has an idea how to solve that ... it would be lovely

Thanks

Francis

Did you not try pip before the above, I don't remember installing it but it works on my PI.

What settings should I use for USB XMOS - I²S - ES9023?
That is what I currently use. I will most likely use audio-widget for USB to I²S and TDA1541A or PCM1794 as D/A later.
For now I use the chain I described. I have a otg USB-hub with built in ethernet adapter. Should probably have started by saying the Rpi is a Zero W.
I tried setting USB-DAC in Moode, that only gave me weird noise out, something similar to an old dial-up modem.
It's been a while since I used Moode, IIRC it was V2.6 or 2.7 then.

I added some files on usb drive connected to Pi 3 and Moode player is not founding the hard drive. I tried it with ps powered usb hub, and directly connected to Pi. Last time, when it has happened, i just instelled Moode new, drive was found and everything was fine, but now i don't want to do again. How can i force Moode to find the usb drive again and rescan library ? I was logged per ssh on the player, with "fdisk -l" i can see the hd, but it is not mounted.

Hi Tim,

As you are working on the new 3.8 version of MOODE, I would suggest that it would be nice to get an automatic update system for the database: once we would have put new files, it should convenient to get the database automatically updated instead of being obliged to push the "update" button...

Looking forward to reading your comments,

Thank you in advance anyway !

I would not opt for this route. I usually take out the HD or memory out from the Pi to listen elsewhere or load new files. So in that period the Db may end up emptied.

I prefer that one click rather than auto-magic that may en up corrupting my data.

That is my take.
Best regards,
Rafa.

I would like to change Moode from headless, to having video. I would like to play videos and get good sound. I did manage to do this with Moode 3.1 but can not seem to repeat this. Unfortunately my sdcard failed and my backup is flawed. Does anyone know how to do this? Would upgrading to Moode 3.7 help me along this path?

Thanks
Jim

I posted some instructions on getting the official RPI touchscreen working to control the player. Is this what you are trying to achieve?

If it is, the instructions are on the Audiophonics forums and a link to them is some pages back in this forum.

Thanks but I want the video to use a monitor/TV via the HDMI output while the audio goes out my HAT DAC. I do believe that my problem is related to a two line display that shows the song presently playing. I got a fancy case and this with my Mamboberry LS+. I seem to remember that I had to install X, PIXEL and disable the small two line display to get HDMI video to work. I thought I just had to comment out the driver line in /boot/config.txt and add the appropriate settings for the monitor but there must be something else.

I watch very little video but occasionally an old episode of Dr. Who seems to be the right thing to do. I was running this directly on the Pi using boring old omxplayer on the Pi. Moode controlling my audio runs most of the time and the web interface is wonderful as I can make changes using my phone as I change location in the house for example turning up the volume while making supper in the kitchen or switching to quiet Jazz while sitting at the desk working on something that needs my concentration, booming blues while folding laundry or cleaning the kitchen. My Pi serves multiple roles. My backup external is connected to it so I use it for backing up my computers, playing music, listening to internet radio and watching video.

Thanks
Jim

I would like to schedule a periodic update of (a subfolder of) my library. Is this possible? I found that it might include 'data-cmd=update' but cannot find any pointers to the full cron command that I would need.

Any help appreciated.

Hello!

I added such an update to the udisk-glue.conf to do an automatic update when an USB device is connected and removed. Here is an example for vfat disks:

Code:
match vfatdisks {
    automount = true
    automount_options = {sync,noexec,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,'dmask=0022','fmask=0022'}
    post_mount_command = "/var/local/www/usb_update.sh add"
    post_unmount_command = "/var/local/www/usb_update.sh remove"
}

You can have a look at my usb_update.sh script:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
(
/usr/bin/truncate /var/local/www/libcache.json --size 0

if [[ $1 = "add" ]]; then
    /bin/sleep 2
fi

/usr/bin/mpc update USB
) &
