Hi!
I've installed Moode on my rasperry pi 2 + allo piano DAC - is this DAC works only with advanced kernels? With standard kernel I have no sound 🙁 with LL or RT it works just perfect.
Hi,
Only in Adv kernels. Allo did not slipstream their drivers into mainline 4.4.50 kernel which Moode uses. Their drivers are in the 4.9.2x branch but this kernel branch is not stable enough yet with Raspbian IMO, at least not stable enough for me to cut over to 4.9 for moodeOS. Maybe when official Raspbian release cuts over to 4.9 then I can begin working with it.

Hi Kent,
mediainfo already installed on moodeOS. its a great tool but I think there are other utils (don't recall their names) that can actually do some type of deep analysis of media files looking for problems.

Oops, my bad. I was working on a laptop running LinuxMint at the time. Too lazy to check my MoOde Player 🙄
I tried to do an in place update of 3.6 and now I can reach my Moode player via SSH but not via the web?
Hello everyone!
I have been out on travel for almost a month and I come back and a brand new version is here. Thanks Tim for all the hard work! I may find some time to install everything tomorrow.
Just a question before venturing update: I'd still be installing te Spotify-connect-web as I did on the previous version. Is there any significant change that would prevent me from getting this to work?
Also, if everything goes south, is there still a downloadable v3.5 somewhere or is the 3.6 road irreversible? I'd much rather have the Spotify connect working on an older version than doing without it in the new one.
Thanks as always for all the hard work! Looking forward to trying the new 3.6.
Best regards,
Rafa.

Hi,
Is this on an unmodified Moode 3.5?
If YES, then send me an email and I'll b happy to take a look, otherwise try again using the backup that I hope u made.
From ssh the indication that update succeeded is the presence of the file /var/local/www/update-r35.txt. This file is written as a final step in the update process.

Hi Rafa,
Just download 3.6, it works with same product key as for 3.5 and it contains important bug fixes 🙂 -- or -- alternatively use CHECK for software update on 3.5 to install the in-place update that gets you to 3.6.
If Spot Web does not require mods to files in /var/www then should be no prob. If it does then email me for procedure.

I managed to find some useful radio stations from another application - MediaMonkey.
Here are the URLs:

Now, is there some way to add these stations to MoOde?

I don't know if this is useful, but one of my favorite college radio stations is WKCR in NYC 89.9 FM. It's the Columbia University station. Wide-ranging formats, great jazz for hardcore fans, great Western art music ("classical"), world music shows from Indian classical music to Afro-pop to Blues, classic Soul, bluegrass, on and on.

all the Radio stations live in here /var/lib/mpd/music/RADIO/
Does anybody know if you can display the 'now playing' information from a m3u8 stream?
If I could see the track name whilst streaming BBC at 320k I'd be in heaven! 😀

Yes, go to the radio browse screen and 'add'.

Yes, go to the radio browse screen and 'add'.
I suspect a little more detail is needed here.
1. from the Browse panel, choose RADIO to get to the radio browse screen.
2. click the "hamburger" icon (the box with three horizontal lines stacked in it) to the right of any of the existing stations.
3. choose "Create new station".
4. add the station name and the streaming-url of the station in the popup pane and click "add station".
Voila, MoOde sorts the new station into its list.
@vakharia
Note that this does not add a station icon to be displayed in the Playback panel. That's a harder task.
@everybody else
FYI - these are three Hindi Bollywood stations. The first is the typical 128kbps, the second 320kbps (!), and the third a measly 32kbps.

Kent
[Re: booting from SSD] That probably explains why I couldn't get Moode to fire. I barely looked at the docs, to be honest. I found a how-to and used that and it worked first time....
I played with MSD (Mass Storage Device) booting for a while last night.
I was getting inconsistent results trying to boot moode-sdimg-r36 directly from either a USB thumb drive or an SSD drive on my RPi3B. It didn't work either to add to the mix a uSD card containing only bootcode.bin. I didn't have time to compare with straight Raspbian to check if issues like an uncooperative thumb drive (see the discussion about MSD booting on the RPi site), timing, or drooping 5-volt power were getting in my way (I wasn't feeding the SSD through a powered USB hub). I was getting different flashing-led sequences reflecting failure at different stages in the booting process which depended in some vague way on the different hardware configurations. In none of the scenarios did updating bootcode.bin have an effect.
I expect my problems can be sorted with sunshine and adequate caffeine intake. The beers I had at dinner last night were probably counterproductive🙂
However, with the boot file system on a small-capacity uSD card and the root file system on either a randomly chosen USB thumb drive or on my USB-connected SSD, MoOde Player came up fresh as paint.
Basically, I dd'ed moode-sdimg-r36.img to the chosen MSD, then copied the boot partition to the uSD card.
Necessary changes before booting were
1) in the boot file system on the uSD card, modify cmdline.txt to read "root=/dev/sda2"
2) in the root file system on the MSD, modify /etc/fstab, replacing /dev/mmcblk0p2 by /dev/sda2 as the partition to mount to /
Note that some changes made to MoodeOS via the Configuration menu will modify the boot file system so we have to keep /dev/mmcblk0p1 mounted to /boot.
I didn't need to update bootcode.bin for this to work.
This is an old scheme, of course, first seen used on previous-generation RPis which are incapable of MSD booting.
Meanwhile, I too have other stuff on my plate.
Regards,
Kent
Not sure if it's an API generally as well is it?The BBC don't include the media information inside the stream, but via an external api call.

Hi all - is anyone else having problems with the BBC 320 streams? I listen to BBC 6 320 a lot, and find that there are infrequent short silences (1-3 seconds), and occasionally longer silences that stop the playback - I have then to press the start control on the web interface to start it playing again. There are also some dropouts where the pi becomes unresponsive - almost as if something has crashed (MPD?) and is restarting - only then will it respond to the controls. Also under the station logo, the kbps figure is never 320 - it varies between about 270 to 360kbps. On all the other 320 channels I use (Audiophile baroque etc), I don't get any dropouts and the kbps is rock steady at 320. I get similar behaviour on several systems (Pi0, Pi2 and Pi3, and various i2s dacs on Moode 3.5 and 3.6). Currently listening to it happening on Pi3, Suptronics x400, Moode 3.6 Advanced RT Kernel set to performance. Any ideas? (Have also tried reflashing, and am just doing so again to new sandisk class 10 16gb). Regards Adrian
Hi Adrian and John, yes I've had similar problems over the last few days with both my RPi 1B+/HiFiBerry Amp+ and RPi 3/HiFiBerry Digi Pro. It only happens with the BBC 320k streams. The Pi B+ stuttered with just short bursts of sound, then no sound at all, other non BBC 320 streams were all OK. Yesterday, the Pi3 however just gave a couple seconds then crashed, wouldn't reboot even, so loaded a new image last night. All seems to work OK for a few minutes now. The indicated bit rate does vary a lot.

What I meant to say was 'is this API generally available?'
@'the brit contingent'
I listen to Radio 6 a lot as well, been perfect at 320k until yesterday when I got a couple of 'brief dropouts'. Strangely this coincided with me bravely/foolishly doing an apt-get update/upgrade
Today has been perfect, showing stream at 300k which is new....
My hardware is zero w, phat dac, no tweaks except turn off hdmi and eth0, I tried 'performance' setting but changed back to 'save the planet' 😛
50meg internet here, maybe too many folk are finding out about the BBC 320k streams so shhhhhhh don't tell others about it 😉

Help needed to create SABRE9018Q2C driver for moode 3.6 advanced kernel
Tim-san
I have SABRE9018Q2C based i2s DAC for raspberry pi 3B and currently no driver works with that DAC except DAC creator provided one. And I found provided driver does not work with Advanced RT kernel of moode 3.6.
DAC creator want to create driver for moode 3.6 Advanced kernel.
If you could help, I'd appreciate.
Thank you very much in advance.
