Sorry to rain on your parade, but the discovery is not of magnetic monopoles in our universe but an analogue of magnetic monopoles in a spin ice. True magnetic monopoles may or may not exist; this experiment sheds no light on that question whatsoever.

The headline should read "Magnetic monopoles still not found, but analogous behaviour seen in spin ice".
