So the first Modulus-86 PCB is populated...

Stop this Gary, I'm getting hypnotised.
Here's my plan for converting to monoblocks as mentioned earlier. Fits quite well in box.

Cheers everyone for the comments. As the boards are all done there will be no more cat videos!
Both boards have passed the basic bench tests, +-17V rails at around 16.3V and output offset drops to 0mV within 10 secs.
No more testing now until they get installed into the case, so I'm back to looking at the layout options again.
Ian looks like that box will double up as the naughty step with the lid closed 🙄

Naughty step? My kids were grown up before such a concept was invented! As we are in neighbouring counties maybe one day we could get together and compare one box/two box designs.

Very cool! Thank you for sharing. That is indeed mesmerizing to watch.

And I'm sure you're becoming an expert on Mesmer and his contributions to audio...
"Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around my eyes, look into my eyes, you're under."
And I'm sure you're becoming an expert on Mesmer and his contributions to audio...
I've definitely had that "oh, that's why it's called mesmerizing" moment. 🙂

That is a required qualification of a relevant audio engineer. Yeah, all of them, no exceptions whatsoever.
Usually, it is traditional that an audio engineer claims that he cannot hear; however, as is it circa 2017 and you have only 2 active peers left, then I think it is quite helpful for an audio engineer to hear something and have even more inclusive preferences. That latter bit is because the supply has run short even though the need has not.
Well, I think that your attitude and products are admirable and very helpful.
In my opinion, I think that it is okay for you to haul off and announce some audio options, so long as you also give the relevant details on how to do likewise. It has probably come time for audio engineers to feel free to voice opinions, so long as the details to reproduce it are also mentioned.
In a simpler way to say it:
What do you like and how do we do it?
Well, since you already got proofed, then it would be a great kindness to tell us how do we do this thing?
You won't get flak for that.
I'm still collecting parts for my build, Tom, and I noticed that you've revised the Power-86 board from the version I have to add an LED output.
Is this still the full supply voltage, i.e. an off-board power resistor is still required for a regular LED (I can't see any extra components on the pictures of the revised board, so I'm thinking "yes")?
The off-board R offends my aesthetic sensibilities slightly; if the revised board disposed of it I'd order one. 🙂
Thanks!

No inline resistor required as the LED is series with the capacitor bleed resistor. If you dont want an LED then the connector needs a jumper in place of the LED.
Oh... ...thanks! Duh, that's practically visible from the Neurochrome photos, too. Nice enhancement. I've ordered one.No inline resistor required as the LED is series with the capacitor bleed resistor. If you dont want an LED then the connector needs a jumper in place of the LED.

I'm doing an interview/ask-me-anything on Reddit today 2-3pm (MST - GMT-7). I'm just throwing it out there in case any of you have some burning questions or would like to get to know me a bit better. The Reddit thread is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/diysound/comments/5vz60o/i_am_tom_christiansen_ama/
They wanted a proof picture and requested I had a little fun with it. So I did... 🙂

That bench is way too neat and organized. A coaster for the canned air blaster? (or is that freeze spray ... I didn't look closely)
Mine doesn't look like that. Maybe one day.

The "air can" is actually flux cleaner. My coffee (or beer depending on the time of night and work going on) normally occupies the coaster, but it provides a good spot for the flux cleaner so it doesn't drool on the table.
Now that we're in the OT department, perhaps you fine folks could help me out a bit here. For my consumer psychology class, I'm doing a bit of marketing research. I decided to use Neurochrome for this; both to meet the project requirements and to get some data on how my company is perceived, where to take it from here, etc. I would greatly value the input from all of you and would greatly appreciate it if you'd spend 5-10 minutes taking my marketing survey: Neurochrome Marketing Survey. The survey is anonymous.

Wow Tom, my mental picture of you was at least 20 years older than you appear to be...makes your work that much more impressive!
