Modest cost 8" woofer

I am in the early planning stage of a modest cost 3-way. I would like some feedback on modest cost ($40 - $60) 8" woofers. The application would be a fairly compact enclosure of 15 - 20 liters, nominal 8 Ohm, sealed box, using DSP to extend the bass response with a Linkwitz Transform... recognizing of course that the bass boost will have to be fairly moderate given the limited Xmax capabitities of woofers in the price range. The crossover from woofer to mid will be in the range of 300 - 500 Hz.

My two leading contenders are (1) Dayton DA215-8 and (2) SBA SB20PFCR30-8

I would be interested in anyone's experience with either of these two drivers.

Any other drivers I should be considering? Since this will be a sealed box design, I would like an Fs of less than 36 Hz and a Qts in the range of 0.34 - 0.45

The SBA has a low distortion and a good sensitivity, not easy to beat, especially condidering its cost. I designed a BR (42L @ 38Hz) for a friend of mine and he is very happy with it.
I don't have experience with it but you could also consider the Dayton Audio DC200-8 - Qts .39 / Fs 29Hz - which has a better F3 (circa 60Hz) with respect to the SBA and the DA215, but the sensitivity is lower (about 82 dB after baffle step).

I had a similar decision to make- a low cost driver to prototype a coaxial speaker. If it worked out I would go “all in”

I needed something that worked in 3/4 cu ft, suitable for sealed, healthy amounts of excursion.

Yes @hifijim if you can budget the RS225-8 get it. No need to discuss $30-60 option.

IMHO nothing better than the RS225-8; until you spend Revelator prices.
And then nothing better until you get Purifi.

Of course, if you have space for a 10”, the same applies for the RS270:

Dayton really knocked this one out of the park when they designed it.

the german magazine "hobby hifi" tested and highly recommended the dayton dsa215-8.
Some of their remarks:
Excellent distorsion (below 0,3% for 90 dB from 100 hz up to midrange) and extended frequency response even allow use as 2-way driver (with rather steep filter). Aluminium voice coil former provides good power handling but also reduces efficiency.
Shorting ring for low inductance.

ok, just saw the price may be slightly out of range ....
