Moderating

Ha ha Carlosfm

I visited Texas this morning.
I think that you will never get any stress as you just put out your words whatever it is. And, I think that you are too quick to catch the meaning what the others exactly say or meaning . . .
The thing you know might be only black or white . . . ?
Of course, I know all bad and dirty words at work worldwide.

I expected such words from m . . . , not from you . . .

Poor boy

I do. You're free to email me if you think a moderator has treated you unfairly.

That’s funny SY, you’re the biggest perpetrator of the heavy handed one-sided moderation, and the main reason I found other places to frequent. I only found this because I still have this thread setup to e-mail me for new posts, other then that I don’t hang out here any more except for an occasional browsing of the speaker forums.

Oh, and thanks for turning the Off-Topic area into a grave yard, there used to be some interesting political discussions here but I guess you and others had to treat us like were in kindergarten because your too lazy to properly moderate the hateful comments without wiping out a whole page or locking the thread because of a few jackasses.

Let me be blunt: it was starting to take a LOT of time to moderate that stuff (we don't get paid, this is purely a volunteer effort) and it wasn't particularly good discussion. There's no lack of good places on the Web to go fight about politics. I would respectfully opine that there are not nearly so many good places to go to discuss building audio equipment.

Then why have off-topic, and why do you get to decide what’s a good discussion? Also consider that this is a community and people get to know one another here, our first passion is Audio but at times we like to blow off steam and discuss other things. These Political discussions were going on long before you became moderator and there was very little problems relatively speaking, especially considering the bickering that goes on at the amp forums. Forgetting what side your breads buttered on is what makes forums and businesses die, consider that it’s the members that make this place possible, the advertisers wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the traffic and posting of the members. But by all means keep treating the regulars here like they are children and see what becomes of this place, either extreme will make a forum a lousy place to visit, too much moderation or not enough, just check out the Audio Asylum for a good example of the latter extreme, it’s a den of jackals.

Discussing Politics with people of your own interest gives us some common ground that sometimes helps us share our POV better, removing it completely because you don’t have the time to interject and ban at will is a poor excuse and is in fact lazy, were adults, let us handle our own problems, if you did it would self moderate all but the most extreme cases like it always had. But if you just have to control everything and be king, then so be it, I’m sure my little opinion will never change anything anyway, I’m just one forum member who matters not.

If you want to be democratic, why don’t you take a vote from the members and ask if they want to discuss Politics and Religion, and then ask for moderators to volunteer for Off-Topic only? Or would that be catering too much to the member’s desires?
