Did you guys get together and decide that the above policy is no longer valid?

That policy is still in force, but in my personal opinion does not apply here. The responses to this thread have absolutely no socio-political point to make at all, and are merely digs at other's characters.

Jocko's post was plainly an insult directed at mikek, and against forum rules, whatever area it was posted in. The rest of the thread was sent to Texas because it had absolutely no relevence to the original topic, and if you can point out any posts that are valid responses to the title of the thread I will gladly put them back.

Why you would bin Jocko and not Mike and/or me is even more baffling. I disagree with this mod action completely.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Rodd. Yes, I could have sent more people to the sinbin, but I decided not to do it, and give you and others the benefit of the doubt, rather than punishing everyone. Perhaps my generosity was misplaced.

i read the thread behind the link in the sinbin, and sorry for that, i need some help to understand what exactly jocko did for beeing sinbinned.

Hi Till, see above, Jocko was binned for insulting another member.

Or is the policy, in a good amerikan manner, to supress everything that may look like political diskussion??

Till, in case you hadn't noticed, I'm not American😉 Political discussion is fine, in the right place, and will not be censored if done in a reasonably polite manner, (note the use of "reasonably", I know how discussions can get a little heated). But none of the posts sent to Texas had anything to do with politics.

ok, they all used hard words, and i would not take any of the posts serios. Why you? And they seemed to be happy with this way of communication, or did anyone complain? That would change situation, but you sis not say so.

and the one i would first worry about is this post:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=201674#post201674
not jockos, which is a perfectly right reaction to such nonsense.

else of corse i know you are not amerikan, but this doesn´t prevend at these days from behave like one. There is at leat one non amerikan mod, and your prime minister.....

The socio-political point that is being made in spades is that it’s just fine with the Mods to criticize and bash Americans, but it’s a SinBin offence to get pissed off about it if you’re an American.

Don't look now Al, but your social-political alliances are showing.

...or you could have sent nobody to the bin as was the out come of the last incident refered to in my previous post. What's the difference between "swinin' with the fishes" or "a dum-dum to the head"? (I think there's a member with the moniker "Nobody". This is not in reference to this member.)

Not true. If any of your arguments had anything to do with the topic, they would have been left alone. They didn't. Not one of you even debated his points, which I am sure have many flaws, I can think of several. I'm still waiting for you to point out any posts that do.

Don't look now Al, but your social-political alliances are showing.

Obviously not that much if you think I'm anti-American, and Till thinks I'm an American stooge

...or you could have sent nobody to the bin as was the out come of the last incident refered to in my previous post.

Yes, but as I keep reiterating, that last incident had posts that were vaguely on topic- none of these replies here even attempted rational debate!

and Till thinks I'm an American stooge

thank you for the new word.

you say so, i don´t think so. It´s not this action, its more the feeling criticism and every negative expression is forbidden on this board. That is a thing a german must be unused to, as our culture consists out of criticism and defeatism.

Till,

Do you mean to say that you have never seen these guys before? It's another fine example of American culture.

Hi,

This really sucks.......

Agreed...some people can insult for miles in a row, others can't.
Guess Texan humour was lost on the moderaters board here too?

I don't expect any mod to have even an inch of Jocko's sense of humour but there are limits to that too.

Com'on guys, where's you sense of perspective here?

Mikek, I'll spank you or I'll hit you under the chin...your choice, but you won' get any pois chiche from me...for you have been the instigator of many a flame fest...

Why you're still at large is beyond me but it seems to me you just lack a lot of respect.

Either way, it should have been you landing in the sinbin, for a long standing reputation for NOT positively contributing to any member of this forum...

This forum veers from overmoderating to undermoderating at the blink of the eye...moreover it seems to focus on older members in a very consistent way.

Eric, Fred, Jocko and other longstanding contributors take note: it's reaching the edge, I'm getting very fed up with this random sinbinning.

You create the mess mods, learn to live with it or be just....
After all we know your forum a little better than you think we do....How's that for politics?

Alea iacta est,😉

Hi,

Al,

This has got nothing to with baiting whatsoever...I don't care one bit who made the call, so to me this is not a crusade against a moderator as a person nor is it in defense of a fellow member, just 'bout selective moderation as such.

I'm telling you straight, I'm at boiling point to see what Joel has once again pulled off and how I get reprimanded in the process.
Oh, and he's still at it as I write BTW...are you guys blind or what?

Disgusted?
Let me tell you I am disgusted by the sheer hypocrisy of it all...
or is it mere incompetence?

I have a strong sense of justice and consider myself to be quite fair but don't push it too far, please?

Nothing personal to any of you all, I'm aware of the growing pains..we're all suffering together, believe me.

Cheers,😉

Stop Slamming The Elders....

I suggest that you mods go back and take a very thorough look at all posts by Mikek, for you will find consistent insulting terms and context used by him - IOW mikek has been a tiresome troublemaker since the start of his membership here on this forum.

That the likes of Jocko, Frank, myself and few others get sinbinned, and others such as Mikek are allowed to continue unimpeded just plain stinks.

You mods better start reviewing your policies before the 'Elder' members here just get sick of the crap, pull up camp and move on and to the detriment of the forum.

Another subject is lack of reply from mods - I have complained a few times about particular posts and recieved no reply, and I suppose this is true for other members also.

How about appointing some of us long-term 'Elder' members as honourary moderators who are consulted before decisions are made - this would provide a larger base of opinion and more in line with group viewpoints.

Eric.

I was thinking about it already, and Frank would be a very good candidate for that, but I'm not sure if other mods would accept it, considering his past😉 But I value Frank's opinion and his judgement is usually right to the point.

We were also considering Rodd's candidature for a moderator, but I'm not sure if he was contacted already. What do you say Rodd?😉 You can contact me through the e-mail.

Hi,

My past?

Let me assure you that at all times I've always had the forum's best interest at heart.

In all honestly I feel I and no doubt others changed more in one years' time than...Zip...😉

If there's any uncomfortable feeling left as an aftertaste, I welcome any of you to exchange thoughts privately, I'm very confident I can justify all of my actions.
If I kick hard it just means I can take a hard kick too...

Oh yes, I'd welcome Rodd as a mod....Roddy, what say you ?

Cheers to you all and to all of you, 😉

Honourary Expert Moderators...

Maybe those of us who are still active on the forum who have been in the sin-bin should be included as 'honourary moderators', and consulted before decisions are made..

That way some of the inconsistencies and injustices that have occurred in the past will not re-occur, and the rudeness from more recently joined members that has been allowed to continue will be nipped in the bud a whole lot sooner.

Eric.
